I’ve had a couple of operations in the last two years and as a result can struggle with travel insurance, for bike trips, climbing or plain old normal travel. Normally the questions are lengthy and as I’ve had cancer, can be quite detailed so I get my wife (GP) to fill the details in for me, she understands the terminology and consequences. I get some of the answers wrong and that can invalidate the policy.
With the BMC who are your go to insurer if you want to go climbing anywhere in the world, or off piste skiing or whatever, they have now adopted a much simpler approach. They take age, location of travel, activity and then ask if you are fit to travel and they define what that means in a very clear manner.
We have just taken out an annual policy that includes me going rock climbing and both of us skiing, with off piste and cross country, for about £480 plus BMC membership. That’s very good as many companies have refused me insurance, a lot stop exotic skiing over 60, don’t cover many activities. These folk let you ski and climb up to 80, then you have to discuss it.
I stopped using them a few years ago when I stopped doing climbing trips but, I’m back. Worth a look if you’re struggling to get decent cover even for lying on a sun bed in Spain. The only time I got refused by them was for a planned crossing of the Greenland icecap because they’d been stung by a rather expensive rescue mid icecap a couple of years before. A very large bond was required by the Greenland authorities and they wouldn’t guarantee it, understandably.
And, they’re not motivated by profit for shareholders, any profit goes back to the BMC not owners.

Does it cover you when riding your motorbike?
No, I need top up insurance for that (or an extra policy) but most of my travel in a year isn’t on the bike, that tends to be one, max two trips to Europe currently
