BMW 1150GSA - stubby or not to stubby…

At tue minute I am lucky enough to have the r1250gsa, r1150gsa ,tdm900 and ktm 1090.

All of them are on standard exhausts and the tdm is very quiet , closely followed by the 1150 , the 1250 is appreciably louder followed by the ktm.
At my age I actually wished the 1250 made less exhaust noise when touring

Cat + stubby
Cat matches the engine, stubby saves loads of weight and you've got it.
Stubby allows the fitting of full size panniers if you need them

This is how I run my Rockster. It's even passed MOT tests like that.

I have a turn down 'stub' that I made by cutting the inlet tube from an old catalyser box.

It allows for a full-size left pannier, and much easier rear wheel removal.

Im the only person I know who took the noisy exhausts off a Harley I once bought and fitted the original silencers… I felt such a twat riding it home after buying it with the stupidly loud exhaust fitted… Plus riding long distances with a loud exhaust is so tiring.

Looking for less noise and weight

A few comments about loud exhausts.

Just as a reminder on the original post question - the whole point of this thread is about trying to decrease noise while also losing out on some weight. But trying not to affect performance.

Hence the thinking of taking out current short exhaust. I have never had a short exhaust before and do prefer the sound of a Remus or an Akra.

Anyway, on the Wanted section I have added a check on anyone who may have a Remus or Akra for sale. Checking FleaBay as well
