any know if the luggage from a pre-liquid cooled r1200 gsa will fit the 800gsa, part numbers are marginally different i think, 71 60 7 722 308, as opposed to 71607722305/6

If they are the alloy ones then no, not without an adaption kit.
There was a post in this section not long back covering this.
I sold my alloy luggage from my 1200gsa and bought the BMW alloy ones for the 800 gsa.
The right hand pannier is shaped for the exhaust but the left is very similar.

In short no they don't. I'm looking at fitting the full set of Givi Outlander inc pannier frames. With discount it comes in at below the BMW prices, boxes will fit next bike with new frames or have a broader appeal used to other makes and I'll refit the oe pannier frames for bike sale.
Bit the bullet in the end. None of my preferred outcomes available to me. BMW alu panniers order
