Hi,

since a couple of weeks I have sth odd going on with the BMW alarm on my 1150 GS adv.

What it used to do (and still does in most cases):

-turning it on: two high beeps
-turning it off: one high beep
-automatic start interruption after 15 sec: one high beep

Sometimes however, since a couple of weeks, turning the alarm off generates a high beep directly followed by an strange sounding second beep, somewhat lower in tone. I don't have the slightest idea what that would mean.

Anyone of you?

Cheers Demito

PS today the second day of the season by car:( Too much snow, couldn't get up the hill with the bike. Long live all wheather bikers!!!:D

It's all in the instruction manual. From time to time mine does the same thing. But it is a loud alarm and works well so I'm happy.

beeps

From what I read in the alarm handbook the beeps only change tone when you are programming the alarm to your requirements.
It maybe that the single brown/white wire that comes from the alarm and is used when doing the programming is touching to earth.

Couldn't find anything in the instruction manual, that's why I posted it here. You're right about the alarm working properly, but my curiousity says that sound is not generated for nothing. There should be a reason, no?

I thought it could have been a warning for the alarm being activated while away, but tested and negative...

It is the fifth night without any sleep now and I am about to go see a shrink. I am on Prozac already (tnx to Grizz :D ) and I constantly hear BMW alarm beeps in my head :jester . Please help...

If the alarm in question is a Meta (which, I believe, is the approved BMW alarm - it's what is fitted to mine), then it will sound the normal 'beep' when disarming, followed by a short, low tone, beep if the alarm has been sounded since you last set it.

I'd suggest you set the alarm, wait the 30 seconds (or whatever the delay is) until it arms, then deliberately set it off. Wait for it to finish its cycle (about a minute or so), then disarm it and see if the 'beep' sounds you are hearing are the same.

Mike,

done that without result. :(
The alarm went of for 30 sec. I disarmed it afterwards and only one single beep...

Tnx anyway for the try.
