BMW aluminium side boxes.

Loads of people, they even come in black if you buy them from the manufacturer instead of BMW. Mask of the plastic bits, prime with etch primer, personally I would then prime with normal primer and then put the black on. You can also drill all the rivets out if you want instead of masking.
There are a number of threads here with pictures if you want to search.

Saw a set that had been done in carbon fibre lookalike , looked really good , they used the same wrap on the front forks . I have a set with some dings and scuffs from tumble last year which I will get round to doing once I get the rest of her sorted.

He makes it look easy.
I watched the video & thought how hard can it be?:blast

5 hours later I had completed the top box and it was ok but wouldn't stand up to really close scrutiny, if you can get them done for £120 I personally would go down that route.:thumb2

This is exactly what I did
It took about 4-6 hours per box but its worth it looks amazing. I used a 3M wrap they use on cars....great quality product and easy to use
I put black chevrons down the edges that once light hits turn white reflective

Cracking but I would not have the patience. Think I will drop them in to a professional.
