Hi guys,
I have a story starting that will give an interesting result as to service standards.....we shall see!

Last monday, I rode down to London for the day....on arrival there I discovered that my battery had finally given up the ghost...stopped for 5 mins and would not start bike agian.

So promptly called in BMW Assist...
Good service - bike collected within 45 mins and transferred to BMW Battersea. I watched and helped the guy load my bike. He did this carefully and I happily returned to my meeting....expecting to be able to pick bike up later with a new battery fitted.

End of day - rang Battersea and nope...they were just completeing the job sheet!! will look at bike tomorrow! So back to Asssist...they provided me with a hire car and promised to get bike back to me up north....starting to be an expensive battery for BMW....and me the car did 26 to the gallon!

Next day Battersea confirmed it was battery and fitted new one...told me bike could be collected!!

So pointed out that I live 170 miles away and they better get it delivered!! So arranged to have it delivered following day! Car hire was extended.

Next day - bike turns up - great....UNTIL I realise that it now has 2 small dents in the tank. They were not on it when it left me in Belgrave Sq, but were on the sheet when it left BMW Battersea.

I have contacted both BMW Assist and Battersea....they are looking into the matter! We shall see what the outcome will be...

Anyone had a similar issue? was it resolved ok?

Gavin

Similar situation three years ago......

My 1150RT has to be recovered from my house because of a brake fluid leak.....

Because the bike was only three months old & I was distraught at seeing it being taken away on a transporter.....I took a couple of snaps.

After the bike was returned I discovered that the short hydraulic hose that connects the rear pre-load remote adjuster with the top of the shock had been pulled out of it's crimped position & an amount of hydraulic fluid ( separate from the main shock oil) had leaked over the back wheel.

Complained to BMW Assistance & John Clark Tayside and because my photo's clearly showed that the ratchet strap used to secure the bike had snagged around the hose, thereby pulling the hose free...........they denied all liability........for quite a while.........

I persisted in my claim that they were responsible for the damage until I got on thier nerves and they took the bike away again (in JC's van this time) and replaced the entire rear shock assembly under warranty.

I also got 2 spanking new System 4 helmets FOC for my trouble.........

Good job I like taking photo's......

Cheers

Dutch

(PS:For those of you that have heard this account before, you'll also remember that the original spilled 'brake fluid' was nothing of the sort.......a cat had gone into the garage & pissed on the front wheel immediately below the caliper......amber fluid on wheel rim...........?????

This was only diagnosed months later when exactly the same incident occurred & I decided to 'sniff' the amber fluid before calling BMW Assistance!!!)

My personal experiences with Park Lane are poor to apalling. They left me with a bike that was in a worse state then when it was given to them twice, then said that their quality control would have picked up all the problems and resolved them before I got the bike back.

Personally, they've made it on to the same page as Devitts in all its incarnations as going up against the wall come the revolution.

an update!

Well folks here is the latest...

Park Lane Battersea have stated that it is not their fault ..... and had the cheek to make a comment about the bike being dirty and used! I had just ridden down from up north on a crappy wet day! just because a bike is not mint ...it doesnt mean that it is ok to dent the bloody thing!

BMW Assist have stated it is not their recovery people!

So the next stage is with BMW Customer services ....I have contacted them and relayed that I am not happy .....forwarded all paperwork etc

I dont want to apportion blame ...yet....and will wait and see what HQ can do to sort the issue!! Accidents happen ...but I want it sorted properly.

I will see where i get before working my way up the chain!

I hope this aint going to turn into too much of a saga...but I aint going to go away!!

Gavin
