Such utter poor service. Or lack of. I need my bike serviced. Oil, Air Filter, Front shock oil, Breaks Bled, 26k service. Last December I went back and forwards to Battersea with a clutch/sidestand sensor issue. They were so crap they told me to come collect it after "replacing "the faulty part. Before I even left their parking lot, I showed them it was not fixed. They failed to test side stand down in gear/start issue. Numpties. Anyhow, manager sits me down and says sorry, you've been here 3 times and still not fixed bla bla bla. May called them to service bike, after a week of waiting for them to quote and call back I wen to Vines in the holidays and got a good service. Phone answered first time, loan bike sorted, dates agreed.

So I need another service. I call Vines in Guildford for what needs to be done, they give me a list over the phone a quote of £440 but they can't fit me in as I can only get there at 5pm to drop bike unless on a friday when I can get there for 4pm. But they don't want to loan me a bike over weekend as its £20 a day insurance, not standard practise et.

So I thank them and call Battersea...Fuck me sideways are they incompetent. Its now the 6th phone call I've made over 8 days, third text to say bike is booked but no quote provided. Today I ring back again, they have had the parts costed but it took them a week to get the labour costs added. You'd think they want business in these times. Anyhow, ranted at the bookings supervisor, explained my case. She put me straight through to service who came back on and said with labour it'll be £750. I said Vines would do it for £440. He says they must have missed something...I tell him they gave me the list to ask for. Thanks but no thanks! Jokers

If you fancy a day out, Sycamore in Witham (Essex) is very good. I can pick you up (or they can loan you a bike) and you can work from here for the day / as long as they take to do the work?
I've found their service to be good and the bloke on the desk knows his stuff and is very informative.

love to work from there, but the kids might get covid shock again. I'm a teacher. And its a 60 mile trip from mine, sorry but just not workable. I have another indy at the end of my road, but his communication is worse than Steptoes!

Don’t you have some time off coming?

yes and no..Dogs to look after as their school is also closed :) finish on fri 20th. Monday is xmas shopping day, last minute.com. Tuesday is food collection day, but realistically 60 miles across London is 2 hours there and 2 hours back times 2...2 days

doesn't do WC bikes as far as I am aware.
Why not call him and ask for certain?

I doubt there’s anything service related on the WC bikes he’s not capable of doing if it’s just oil, filters, fork oil, bleed brakes and a diagnostic scan. They aren’t that different from any other bike really.

I have done so and Neil (Steptoe) told me it wasn't worth the investment in diagnostic equipment he would have to make.

Time to get a Guzzi…see you at the campsite in Dent. 😂😂

The camshaft timing tool kit is quite an expensive outlay for a 1250 but a red GS911 unit has all the diagnostic functionality necessary for basic repairs and servicing ??

So if you can get to Vines by 5pm (I believe they close at 6pm?) surely you can drop your bike off, collect a courtesy bike, then drop their courtesy bike back at 5pm the following day?

Or am I missing something ? :nenau

Many years ago, while I was still servicing with them, I had them install Ohlins shocks on the Boxercup Replika I had at the time.
The Ohlins hydraulic adjuster knob (on the BXC it is at the top of the tank) flew off the bike before I reached Vauxall bridge.

Had another debatable experience with them over the years. Never happened to me before (and I used the official dealer networks for ages before that – yes you pay more, but you know that).

Last time I used them was to service the HP2 Sport. It's the little things.
They insisted I came back to the dealer to bring in the H&N filter servicing kit as it was "no standard part". From memory the HP2 comes with H&N – anyway. Had to take a few hours off work to ride to them to bring the bottle (that wasn't returned). They could have got it from a spares shop or Amazon (they had the bike a few days, and told them to take their time if they needed as I didn't need it) and charged me the cost... I would have been ok with that, easier than having to cross the city in a rush.
I received the bike fairly badly reassembled. Had to take the tank panel off and put it back together as they reassembled the panels other way round, that is fairly annoying with them being expensive carbon fibre stuff. I would have expected a tiny bit of care.

Didn't even discuss it with them. I understand they are after a certain clientele, I am not part of that.
Did the trek to Bahstormers with the HP2 last year for servicing and it was all ok as expected.

Have similar issues up here with a local dealer, I would rather travel 90 miles north and get a lift home from my wife and leave the bike a couple of days before getting a lift back up to collect it .
If the local dealer 30 miles down the road quotes say £250 for a service, the one I use will be £280 (but it will be done correctly) ,however, the dealer 70 miles west will quote £350 ( all for the same service)
