Just spent the the day trying to get thro to battersea for a quote on a new rear for the 1200! £80 odd +vat for the tyre so thats just over the ton not bad I thought till the guy happily goes oh and its about an hour to fit so thats another £60 + vat to fit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky I am in derby at the weekend so will be off down to see John at Motorcycle Tyre sales :)

In general, tyres are never a good buy from a main dealer........specialised tyre fitters are nearly always better value.

It always surprises me that people moan about it when it's a well known thing....let's be fair here, it's not a Park Lane issue, it's a main dealer thing.

Yeah, all the dealers I've came across will charge you labour rate for fitting if you ride the bike in. Quite a few will do free fitting on loose wheels though.

true main dealers aren't the best choice for tyres but what seeing as I have seen people quote sawbridge as charging £35 to fit and the fact that it took several atempts to actually get thro to them in the first place I felt it more a battersea thing than a general dealership issue. Thannks 100wattwarlock for the link to fwr. But I am getting it done in derby now £100 + tenner to fit :)

Sones tyres

Sones in Croydon is excellent. Just turn up with the bike. Cheapest prices I have found in South London. Fitting is free on loose wheels or he will charge you a tenner if he has to take it off for you. He even offered the use of his tools for me to take the wheel off myself so I could save myself a tenner! Top bloke. 020 8684 9516.

We would not get any tyre business if we charged standard Labour rates for fitting, we offer tyres as an 'additional service' and charge just £15 plus vat (each) to fit (as long as we've supplied the tyres!). That of course includes making sure any fastenings (wheel/caliper bolts) are re-tightened up to the correct torque settings and we do a bleed test if you've ABS.

Cheers
