 phoned Clarks B'ham for quote for two bikes, 1150GS and (wash out ma mouth) K12lt. The Brummie ladie, Debbie said £151 fully comp. :hpbirthda I thought . I'll have some of that our kid, put it in writing and send proposal form please! :D After no form had arrived, phoned again and Debbie says, no Oi only posted it yesterday, an Oi've ad word with Devitts-Da an they say it should be £264  Seems loik a good advert for efficiency to me. :shoot:

The good news is, getting it from BVM Stroud, who seem to know or can find out, at £204. :) perhaps their Markup is not as high

Moral, again. Shop Around;)

BMW Claims - UNhelpline

Just had a bloody awful time with BMW Insurance. they have taken 33 days to authorise repairs! This is despite them saying they authorised the repairs 3 weeks ago, and god knows how many chase up calls..
I think the people on the end of the 24 hour (actually it's 9-5) Helpline have been inbred a few too many generations... even Wollaston couldn't get any sense out of them!
Perhaps they're going through a bad patch..
I'm still waiting for a response from Mr. Utley. the Chief Exec of Equity Red Star....

Scud,

I think you must've caught them on a bad (few) days. After my prang on 9th Dec, the insurance loss adjuster came out on the 15th to see the bike and authorised repairs the same day....

Invicta, I have just droped B*W in sewer ants and gone back to CN, it took 6 months and numerous phonecalls to get my vertificates to me, then when renewal time cme up they only sent me renewal notice for my GS not my DR, another phone call and I was assured that the DR renewal was on the way.. it turned up 2 weeks after the expiary date.

B*W were cheaper than CN but CN got the paper work to me in 12 hours, they might be quicker when/if I need them too.

B*W in sewer ants, no thanks
 :shoot:

But that is just my opinion.

Just moved to BMW Insurance from Carole Nash. '99 GS1150 and 1977 Suzuki GT750, renewal with CN 250.85, BMW through SPC £203.35. I am a happy chappy!

How the hell did you manage to get the Suzuki insured with BMW????,
I tried that with my F650 & my Yamaha FJ1200, they didn’t want to know! :shoot:
They said they would only insure BMW’s.:barf
Or does it depend on your local dealership?

i took out BM insurance when i bought my gs over 2 months ago. despite hundreds of phone calls to both the dealer and Devitts who handle BM insurance, THEY STILL HAVENT PROCESSED MY F*CKING POLICY!!!

it's driving me mad, because although on every phone call they solemnly promise that any claim will be honoured on a cover-note alone, i know that in reality this is bullsh*t.

i will not use them next time.

Clarks & BMW Insurance

I insured my GS via Clarks when it bought it last year. Policy expires 11/7/03. Got a quote via Biketeam at £294 with £350 excess. Went back to Equity Red Star - they transferred me to Devitts who are quoting £201. So I guess i'll stay with them.

Like prOne, my BMW Insurance paperwork has not arrived over 3 months after switching to them. Vines of Guildford where I bought my GS have been chasing on my behalf, also to no avail. Vines say they have always been slow, but this is the worst ever.
I also wonder if they will renew my policy next year as they are now saying my occupation is "worrying" (I'm a photographer, but not of princesses or celebs).
Has anyone taken out BMW insurance and then not been able to renew it?

I would be most concerned if my insurance was with Equity Red Star, they are renown for being very cheap but have a mishap and they will cream you.
Needless to say I was "creamed" back in 97 and have several times over the years paid a bit more to avoid using them again.
The opinion is not just based on my experience as I spoke to a couple of dealers who repair damaged bikes for insurance companies and some of the stunts ERS pull stopped me using them ever again.

ERS - now that's what I call a decent company!
Had my cover with them back in '00 when I had my prang - dealt with everything fine (Old dear who smacked me was also insured with them - not sure if this made a difference).
Anyway, needless to say they just paid out for the injuries/loss of earnings (lottsadosh) so now have to recover their losses ;-)
