Had a look at one of these yesterday, and it looks quite good with reasonable ventilation etc, butr would appreciate any comments from people who have bought one.

Thanks,

Mike

I have one. Havent tried it in wet yet but has the usual BM liner thing. Its a great lightweigt feeling jacket. I bought one as the Rallye feels so heavy and this feels more like an enduro jacket. Fine in winter over a layer. Only gripe I have is the pockets, not enough as the top ones, or at least one is a vent, and the lower ones are small and slits rather than top openers, so not so good for leave zips open types.
If you take armour out as its quite light and the sleeves zip off it goes great over offroad armour (as would Rallye I guess).
Washed up great after some severe muddying with techwash.
US guys moan its either too cold or too hot IIRC, but for our variable climate its fine. Doesnt vent as well as the Rallye I think but theres always athe front zip open a bit.
BUT it has a great lighter feel and looks nice IMO so I'm happy. Oh, and doesnt look too 'uniform'.

Edit, Hi Mike I see you are in Bristol.

+1 :thumb
Me and the missus have them, had a 6000 km roundtrip last autum with no problems at all.
The vents are actually ok, but as all the BMW jackets they are not waterproof (but the removable inner jacket is)
The only thing i didn't like is that the trousers fades in the sun?
Mine are now a lttle green and a little grey :nenau
(This has not bee'n an issue with the jacket)

Dr Rich, Yep I live in Almondsbury & work in Bristol. Saw the jacket at Bath Road. Quite tempted as my Dainese jacket in a winter one (with removable lining) with no ventilation and tends to be somewhat warm in these globally warmed times.
See you around I hope.

Mike

Replacement sleeve for boulder

this really is a good jacket, with great venting, although I agree with the lining being used to keep it waterproof. Be aware however, after a spill on the dreaded diesel, I now have a left sleeve not fit for purpose, and BMW Bracknell being less than helpful and fobbing me off to dealers, who fobbed me back to HQ. Now left with a £250 jkt with only one arm covered.....what a picture.

Can't you claim off the insurance? In what way is BMW reponsible? If you had not worn the jacket, surely you would have an entire left arm not fit for purpose rather than just a sleeve?
It would be helpful if you could give us the whole story, I think.

Not fit for purpose

Sounds very much like it was fit for purpose.

I don't see why you thought BMW UK would be interested.

Get your WALLET OUT?.

Tight WAD.

Boulder jkt

Girls, I think you have the bull by the t'ts, I contacted BMW Bracknell to PURCHASE a replacement sleeve. I don't care how much it costs I just want a friggin new one!! I was told that the jacket comes as "One Piece" and therefore could not buy a sleeve on its own, so, if you loose, damage, have stolen a sleeve from your Boulder/Rallye 2, or leg off your Summer 2 trousers, YOU ARE STUFFED.
That situation will only change if there policy towards the customer changes, so please let them no if the same has happened to you.

Anybody got a spare left sleeve in XXL?

Great all season jacket that's better looking and not as lary as the Rallye Pro IMO. The pockets are a bit small and are not waterproof as they're outside the liner (or maybe 1 is?)

I've worn one all year round. - I do 35miles e/w commuting and it's been fine with a fleece underneath in the winter - nice and snug when zipped to BMW trousers. You don't need any additional layer in spring/autumn with the liner and its well vented for the summer.

The jacket itself isn't waterproof, the liner is, so you get a damp layer trapped between the 2 which means pulling it all apart to dry out, which is a bit of a pain, but I've only had to do it 3 or 4 times this year so not a big drawback.

Is the liner inside the boulder jacket breathable or are you "sealed" like in a plastic bag when the liner is in?
