When I was ordering my GSA today I asked the guys there if the top box would fit a full face helmet and was told that it was.
Is this true?

I can't seem to find anything on the BMW site but I found this: LINK which says 'No full face helmets' down towards the bottom.

I can't really use a top box that I can't put a lid in (Seriously... why bother making one that doesn't fit a lid).

Thanks people.

Triple black?
You want one of these then.

That's my RX7 lid and there's still room for other gear too.
GIVI Outback Trekker 42ltr Recommended

I have a mere GS LC with the Vario paaiers and top box. I can get a full face helmet (either Shoei Neotec or a Schuberty C3Pro) in both the top box and the bigger of the two panniers. But the boxes on the GSA may be smaller

My Schuberth E1 flip front fits in my OE metal top case on my 2016 GSA

Yes, but...........
Do you really want silver on such a lovely TB?
Suppose you could always do that sticky black cover thingy that some here have done?
Lovely choice of bike Octatonic, you're gonna enjoy 2017 aren't ya!:bounce1:bounce1

My BMW System 5 and System 6 both fit perfectly in my GSA LC top box.

Hi mate, yes my plan was going to wrap the boxes if the top box fits a lid.
Otherwise would look at Givi/Touratech/Metal Mule options.
I'd rather have one key for the bike if I can though.

Thanks for the responses folks- I wonder why the link I posted said that you cannot fit a lid if you can?

I have a GS TB and have the Bumot black boxes so match the TB, saves trying the black sticky stuff! My Shoei full face fits in the top box. Boxes and frame are very well made.

Hi Yes a full face helmet fits in the top box easy

Fits a full face helmet but you'll have to take off the GoPro and the GoPro mount if you use one. In short it will fit a full face but literally nothing else.

I've just bought the Givi Outback Trekker 42 to replace the BMW top box as it's 42L instead of BMW's 32L but the Givi is more rectangular box with very limited height and was a massive waste of money. Going to stick with all BMW aluminium luggage and get them wrapped black.

Saw on here the other day that you can get the Givi coded to the BMW key if you do end up going to Givi route.

BMW really do need to review (and fix) the top box situation. The panniers are (as far as I'm aware) the same size as the vario panniers at their extended size which is great but the top box is dreadful and looks pathetic on the GSA.

I can't get a helmet in my Vario top box as its full of other stuff. Like puncture kit(s), electric pump, toolkit, spare gloves, socks, rainproof jacket, overtrousers, etc... Be prepared, it's the boy scouts' motto.
