Was at BMW dealer yesterday whilst the bike was being valeted (RT 90th Anniversary edition) test rode new RT (very very nice but cannot justify PX mine at just over 12 months old) was looking at BMW clothing good deals on Tour Shell and Street Guard range.
can anyone give me their thoughts/views on these I currently have Rukka and the Tour shell and Street Guard were much cheaper at £765 and £1095 per suit.

i have used Rukka for some years, but just bought a Klim Badlands Pro, very pleased and you would be well advised to consider it an option. I bought mine at Crescent Suzuki in Verwood, who have a surprising range of gear.

Depends what you want to use it for. I have the Streetguard 3 suit - dry and practically bulletproof. Took a 30mph (ish) tumblr down the road last winter and you'd hardly know it.

My previous set of Streetguard kit lasted 40k miles :thumb2

Pretty hard to beat the Streetguard.

Although the Tourshell is that much lighter, so a little more comfortable to wear off the bike and the lining in the current Tourshell can be worn as a jacket in it's own right.

i find the new street Guard jacket, quite heavy in weight but..150per cent waterproof and keeps the wind out ..its a yes from me for this item

What they both had that my Rukka does not is zip vents for summer riding.
I suppose I was looking for confirmation that they are waterproof.
I will try both the Tour Shell and Street Guard for comfort and take it from there thanks for your comments.

I had Street Guard 3 jacket and 2 trousers, took a tumble at about 40mph on an old re-surfaced road, so quite an abrasive surface, and slid about 10-15 metres, I was wearing my Shoei XR1000 helmet too.

Result ? jacket had multiple tears to left shoulder and very badly worn elbow. The trousers had tears to left knee around the armour, and badly worn down left thigh. The Shoei had very deep scratches to visor and chin area right through gel coat and into the carbon shell, if I had been wearing an open face I'm sure my chin and nose would be shattered and badly scarred, if not missing.

I was not that impressed with the suit, I ended up with battered shoulder/upper arm and elbow with cuts to knee but head and face okay, I was out cold for a minute or two. i now wear Rukka and Held as BMW were not very forthcoming with any discount when I visited local dealer to replace all my gear, as you can imagine about £2000 of gear.

I recently bought a Tourshell, I want it for all round use so decided the lighter Tourshell was a better bet than the Streetguard especially if the weather gets hot. I have worn it a few times and very pleased with it so far.

I have a Rukka also along with Klim Badlands the Klim is a lot heavier but it is the best suit. Not sure if Cliff at is still offering great deals at Adventure Bike Shop. I recently wore my Klim back to France in absolutely appalling weather on my 'arty' and I never got either wet or cold something I would not have been able to say about my Rukka (cold that is).
