Hi
I’m new to all this technology, so when I bought year old GS, I used iPhone to connect with BMW connect. What am I doing wrong as the b##tard thing always sends me down one track farm roads at some point. I have it set for fastest including motorways avoiding u turns, dirt roads and toll roads.
Back to garmin I think 🤔

I haven’t ticked winding roads, it’s about 50% showing but unticked. It’s goes well, but often takes me on farm and single track B roads, what’s best, fastest or shortest?

I’ve just used mine a couple of times.

Ticking ‘winding’ as you did took me down some weird roads and was pretty unusable.

I tried ‘fast’ and put in a couple of waypoints which ensured I was generally going down roads I wanted to be on. It did take me along some I wouldn’t have taken normally but they turned out to be really good for the bike.

I was quite impressed.

The only hiccup I found was if you put a nearby town as a waypoint it tried to make you double back if you didn’t actually need to go into the town itself. I’m sure there’s a workaround for that .

Edit. If you haven’t got winding ticked it really shouldn’t be using dirt tracks lol. Maybe needs reinstalling?

I agree - it makes you actually go to the waypoint

The trick can be to select a point on a road as the waypoint or to delete the waypoint once you approach it - but of course this means spending time fiddling on the screen
