They fail to offer full protection and one of the reasons, on impact the bars move/bend due to not having a top support like TT.

I'm going with TT on my nxt bike.

Andres that's the only bonus, the TT bars would have prevented the cylinder touching down and limited the repair £££. Needless to say its not being repaired its going back to BMW .

Good job you didn't have the rocker cover protectors on - they just rip off on impact as well !

Don't hold your breath on getting accident damage repaired under warranty though Ding Dong

OH err... just wondering if you have a more solid protection bar i.e. Touratech ,this would transmit all that energy through the engine case and potentially more unseen damage ,the oe BMW bars are designed to give for a reason, just my 2 pence worth!:rob

What even when the accident was caused by the bike !

The steering stop has been welded in the wrong position more over to the left, so on right lock you only get partial turning, on left lock the bars nearly touch the tank and the right hand guard hits the screen.

I was doing a left hand u-turn the bars came to far inwards due to stop being in the wrong position and had me off. I've had the bike inspected by a 3rd party co and they are doing a full report, also the front end is also misaligned.

So far i was awaiting these fixing as agreed by warranty.
1- new vario's and rear subframe (its out of tolerance vario's dont fit, so they had to be bodged to fit until subframe arrives.
2- gearbox rod, it clunks and drags.
3- rear drive boot (its split)

I've already had new pads under warranty but the sh1t is about to hit the fan enuf is enuf.

Sorry but IMHO I Fail to see how this off can be attributed to the bike.

I suggest you go and try a slow speed u-turn with your bike with it on full lock, now think how the impact would be if you don't have a steering stop and with the forces of a moving vehicle the bars kick inwards more so until they touch your tank.

I fast were you doing said U-turn?? Seems like a lot of damage for the speed I would typically travelling at for a u-turn. Also, were you on tarmac? Even with the bars bent, it looks like the rocker covers still shouldn't be touching the ground...

What a load of bollocks.

Rider error in my opinion

So you were aware of the misalignment yet you continued to ride the bike?

I don't see how the manufacturer has a case to answer :augie

Couple mph, feet up, i tried to straighten it up but it all happened very quick so down it went. The impact moved the crash bar and exposed more of the rocker cover that grazed, not a mark anywhere else. The adrenalin was pumping and being 5ft i was amazed i picked the bike up like a toy.

Now IIRC I've seen these photo's posted on here on another thread?

If that is in fact the case and you were aware of the misalignment yet continued to ride the bike I don't see how the manufacturer has a case to answer :augie

The bike was sitting in the dealers for 5 wks waiting for previous warranty issues to be sorted, as my trip was booked prior to this and they insisted i could not take there bike and that mine was safe to use.
I sent them the pics you have seen and they said, I've taken a look at all your photos and the latest set clearly shows the slight misalignment. It would appear a slackening of the yokes and re alignment is required, that was checked. I insisted the steering stop is in the incorrect position but i don't think it was taken serious.

So are you insisting the manufacture has no case to answer for welding the steering stop in the wrong position, thus altering the steering movement so that its not equal and allows the handle bar to touch the tank one side !

All I've asked them to do is, taking into account all the issues and now this is to replace the bike. I think that's more than fair or should i replace the rocker cover and fit a new bar, say couple hundred and forget that i paid 15k for a bike with dodgy steering !!
