Has anyone else noticed that the rubber bits inside the BMW plastic cylinder head protectors leave permanent marks on the rocker covers?

I fitted the protectors few weeks ago - took them off yesterday and noticed the marks - maybe the rubber can't stand the heat. Tried everything to clean the marks off but the rubber appears to have 'reacted' with the paint.

Yes, but that was on the previous 1150.
I tried a little to remove the marks but gave up quickly and refit the covers.

Have you tried tar remover? its good stuff
as far as i know it cleans everythin its a bit like thinner
so if you use it put some thick rubber gloves on other wise
you'll ment your hands :D

Someone on here asked for (and was given I believe) new covers under warranty. I asked for the Adventure ones to be fitted when I bought the bike, so I'm not sure if they mark the same but I'll have a look later. Oh and if you have any ACF-50 try that for removing the marks.

I had mine on for two years and they left marks. Used gunk degreaser to get the marks off. Be careful with the mounting bolts, mine seized and stripped the threads.

Hopefully mine won't sieze - my dealer asked me to put copper grease on the screws to make it easier for them to remove during servicing - good advice. Will try some Gunk and or white spirit to see if that removes the marks.
