BMW enduro helmet

I was very excited when i bought my new BMW enduro helmet, but after 4 weeks "dare i say it" not very impressed
1. starts humming at speeds over the legal limit
2. wind deflector under chin keeps falling out
3. rain sticks to visor like glue and the more you wipe it the worse the vision.
4. visor a bit on the flimsey side.
At a cost of £270 i'm a little pissed to say the least.
has anyone had the same problems??
my other helmet is a Airoh and it feels so much more solid and it was half the price

Peak vibration

Ive also had problems with the peak vibrating. Look onAdv rider site. I carried out the mod as suggested and it worked for me. On the centre screw which holds the peak in position, remove the screw, and fit a small piece of rubber (I used old inner tube) approx. 15x25mm with a hole in the middle for the screw, between the helmet shell and the underside of the peak. Then fit the screw through and the vibration stopped. Shame you have to do this to was is suppose to be a quality helmet!

You've pretty much described wearing a BM enduro lid - they are all like that! Putting the bit of rubber under the top screw helps a bit but the best trick for long runs is to remove the peak altogether. Funnily enough when I wear it on my DRZ (no screen...) its great.
Oh and I only paid £175 for a two colour one (sorry)

Never done the mod, never had the problem. I rate it better than the tour-x in some ways-lighter quieter visor dont mist up like Arai and if cleaned as per the instructions the rain beads off-just dont keep wiping it with your gloves especially if they are covered in crap.

i agree lighter and quieter:, but the first time i wore it in the rain that's before i ever cleaned it, it was terrible i really don't understand why it was so bad

Mine vibrated like an absolute Barsteward until I modded it.

I have rubber underneath the top screw, dense foam in both sides and car door protector rubbers on the front edge of the peak.

Brilliant now!!! Quiet, light and comfy.

I only paid £175 new for mine too

I took the peak off altogether on a blast through France and Spain last year because at 90-100 mph lifesavers were getting to be a literal pain in the neck. I put a TT Screen extender on my GSA and have had no problems since with the peak.....



Just to put the thumbscrews on I paid £155-00

It's an enduro helmet. Not designed for highspeed long distance riding.

Do enduro type riding and it's perfect.

Bought mine in April and for all of the faults mentioned above I came off at 60mph in Scotland on Sunday and it took a battering but I am in no doubt it saved my life. I did manage to cut my face though which baffles me
Unfortunately need another one now. I suppose after riding for over 20years you have to fall sometime.

I found that the chin deflector kept falling out, so I added some Duct Tape - sorted.
I found that the peak vibrated a lot, so I added some Duct Tape and bits of foam rubber - sorted.
I found that the holes in the peak were too big and did not block out the sun very well, so guess what - thats right I covered them with Duct Tape.

I noticed someting strange, that it makes less wind noise with the visor up than with it down, which i can only assume is due to less gaps around the peak, so I plan on doing some experimentation with Duct Tape to see if it is any better

Overall though for this type of Lid it is light and comfortable and no misting problems.

If anyone comes across an aftermarket solid Peak, let me know ?

I didn't find the Aria Tour-X to be as comfortable.

I think I paid about £140 - £150 for mine after a bit of haggling, but it was as part of a bigger deal.

Seeing as how terrible it is, I will put you out of your misery and take it off your hands

o.k done a few minor adjustments

1. rubber in screw on top of helmet..result CURE

2. super glued chin thingy ...........result...CURE

3 cleaned visor thoughly and waxed.... result haven't been out in the rain

went to germany to test above our legal limit and guess what no vibration

I tested mine yesterday with all of the gaps in the Peak taped (Duck Tape) up and it is quieter at high speeds.

On the look out for a solid Peak that will fit.
