BMW ENDURO HELMET

Uncomfortable,crap construction,very noisy when used.

Not a patch on an Arai Tour X

arai tour x doesn't fit my head shape, you're either an arai or a shoei

the enduro, for me is very good and a lot cheaper than the arai

the visors get scratched quickly when trail riding and you will need proper custom ear plugs as the "normal" ones press against the side of the lid forcing the plugs into your ears

I don't think that it's any more noisy than my schuberth s1 and that is supposed to be the quietest lid on the market

other than that 8/10

the arai would get 2/10 for comfort with my head shape

Quiet (not quite System 5 quiet but still good), takes speakers, well made, light, converts to normal riding with supplied brackets, and just £85 quid.

I have an Enduro helmet and I like it.

I have tried for ages to get rid of the peak vibration that is the helmets only downside. I now have the answer in the form of squids rubber mount mod and a couple of car door protectors cut to fit the leading edge of the peak. Without the mods the helmet is noisey, but much lighter than a Tour x.
With the Mods I would buy another without question. I have a tinted visor for mine and it looks the mutts nuts IMHO.

Not true !!!

I have an Arai Tour X that I use on the GSA and a Shoei Z One that I use on my MV.

Both fit very well.

And tested to withstand a crash at up to 6 mph,so perfect to use on a DRZ.

Flipfly,
got any more details/photos on these mods ?

No pics but it's basically a bit of foam to stop the peak from touching the lid, and then a couple of bits of the door protector strips (that fits on the edge of car doors to stop the paint from getting damaged, available from Halfrauds or any car accessory shop) across the leding edge of the peak and it's job done.

Helmet choice and noise

I use a schubert because of teh flip up front but find it noisy, the Arai seems good for spec wearers but is it noisy. Does anybody know if a comaprison test was done on BMW enduro vs arai vs schubert or otehr flip ups?.

I find my bmw enduro helmet is extremly comfy, quite quiet dosent leak water with vizor closed and i find it a lot lighter than the tour x. And you can buy different vizors for them from vizorshop.com:oonyack

It's not an enduro helmet, but having compared the BMW helmets and other brands, I chose to go with Schuberth. Very quiet and the Concept and the C2 are easy to put on and off without removing my prescription glasses. Like very much the inner tinted shade too, very convenient to avoid juggling with prescription and sunglasses.

Flipfly, I understand about the foam to stop the peak touching the lid, but can you explain more about what the strip does on the leading edge of the peak?

Does this in effect make the leading edge rounded ?

Vibrating peak!

Since i had mine, the peak vibrated at anything above 45mph. Been reading an Adv rider thread and now fitted a small piece of rubber (inner tube approx 3/4x1")under the centre peak fixing screw, between the peak and the helmet shell. And the mod.works, no more annoying vibrations.
