Got me a pair of these courtesy of a Tosser, they look tip top but camewithout fitting destructions, was wondering how the hell they fit.

It appears the Lambda sensor is right where the damn bars need to be. I can see where the top fitments go but the lower ones just doesn't make sense....

Can anyone help??

Cheers

Give me a minute - I should have the BM fitting instructions somewhere to hand - I'll scan them - if you drop me a PM with your email addy I'll mail them to you

From your posted pics you appear to be missing a mounting bracket - the bars should be supplied with a C shaped bracket that is bolted to the raised boss just forward of the oil pipe.

Hmm, it appears I am missing a couple do bits.
Dya think these would be available from BMW in isolation from the rest of the bars??

Shall get not the guy that sold me it.....

Thanks for your help Davros.

Ok I'm back.......

The kind would who posted the bars without the C sections kindly sent them to me after a route round in his shed, bravo that man.

Trouble is, the bike has an Akrapovic header and it seems both La,bad sensers may be slightly more rear wards as opposed to the standard header, whats your thought......????

Images 1 and 2 are of the offside without the C section in place and the hole is almost exactly behind the Lambda sensor,
Images 3 and 4 are of the near side with the C section I place. As you can see the bar is touching the Lambda sensor before put a bolt in and there is still room for it to pull up....

Confused.....

If you want to keep the Akrapovic header, and fit the bars, unless you can make some kind of bracket I guess your only option would be to remove the sensors, fit blanking plugs, and have the bike either re-mapped or fit a Power Commander (both options do not require the sensors once done).
Although you'd need to fit the PC or re-map before removing the sensors...obviously :blast

Hmm, odd, the bike has a power commander fitted already, it was remapped before I bought it and its sitting under the seat.....
Why would someone leave the sensors in if they weren't necessary??

why would they take them out if they werent doing any harm?

Weight, Drag, Just something else for some crap to get stuck too while off road, they look Shite!!! I can think of a dozen things tbh but that's another matter.
So to remove do I just snip, unscrew and get some bungs and jobs a good'n?

Interesting!

The photos taken of my bike show Remus headers and there are no clearance issues - if the engine bars are BMW ones then they will have been designed to fit with the stock exhaust with the sensors in the stock position.

From your photos it appears you may be stuffed with those headers. If you are going to remove the sensors you need to unclip them from the loom [just trace the wires back]. Then you can pass the wires and plug through a suitably sized ring spanner [from memory I use a 3/4 AF jobbie but I'm sure someone will be along with a correct metric equivalent]

Good luck!

My GSA was fine with Remus (forward mounted O2 sensors) and Akraprovic headers (similar to standard). I had to be careful how I connected the O2 sensors on the Remus but everything else fitted fine. The Akra's just went straight on.

For headers that are no good with these bars the only option is to have new sensor pockets welded or brazed on. The old pockets can be capped.

If the PC's connected you can simply unplug the sensors and fit a couple of blanking plugs.

Which PC do you have the PCIII(3) or the PCV(5)?
If you download the PC software from their site and connect your laptop to the PC you'll be able to see what map the bike's running and adjust it if necessary.

You need two of these: M18 X 1.5 Lambda Sensor Blanking Plug Cosworth Group A (eBay search)

If you'd like a hand and fancy a ride down to sunny Berkshire I'm happy to help.

Tbh I have no idea what PC is fitted....
I should be fine unscewing a couple of sensors and blanking them off, very interesting about the PC mapping though, may have a go at that and see what it says.

Thanks all for the help, should be fine from here on in.....

My recently departed GS came with standard BM bars and headers. Then I fitted Remus headers. They fitted OK and looked like this

Remus with sensors moved forward to sloping section of pipe

The Remus headers fit fine with standard GS Adventure crash bars. O2 sensor leads are just long enough with the Remus headers. Screw the sensors into the header, unclip the connector block from under the cylinders to give enough slack, reconnect then clip it back into place.
