BMW Extended Warranty / Roadside Assistance (Again!)

K1600 GTSE here (ex Wapping bike.). Reverse gear has packed up and the bike was over-heating coming through the Dartford crossing yesterday afternoon so I popped in to Sycamore BMW in Witham, which is not far from where I live.

"Your bike isn't covered by any warranty Sir. We have checked our system and the BMW system".

As I pay monthly by direct debit, this was obviously bollox so this morning I called the insurer:

"Of course you are covered Sir, you pay by monthly Direct Debit"

Beware the disappearing BMW Warranty computer system .....

I had a claim for switchgear at which point I realised that all I had to prove warranty existed was a print screen from when it was set up
Dealer had it their system luckily so only issue was their crap wanker service manager!
As I had to contact bmw about him I asked about paperwork (eg when abroad) profuse apologies followed by booklet and required dox next post!
So
It’s always the dealer wankers
Dick Lovet bristol
He’s gone now think they found him out soon after my taking him to bits in a crowded shiwroom
Cnut!

Similar issue in Austria a few years ago with my r1200gsa lc when the ecu went t*ts up, their system does not recognise your Insured warranty if you pay by direct debit and the payment falls on a weekend (Friday after office hours to Monday morning it shows as lapsed) .

Luckily it was the Monday morning before I rang them up (the direct debit had still not been processed ) , the recovery /repair side of the operation managed to get in touch with the financial side of the operation , however, I would hate to be in the same situation on a rainy Saturday or Sunday afternoon on a German Autobahn and be told that despite having paid on the dot every month by D/D I was not covered by the Insured Warranty

Cost me many many £'s on my mobile sorting out their clusterf*ck

From my own perspective (as I'm the OP) I have had:
* THREE...yes THREE Throttle Bodies (at £520 ea according to Bowker PLUS Labour!)
* One Camshaft (RHS, the "diamond like coating" failed)
* One oil leak fixed
Plus, I have had 5 years European Breakdown cover as well (bike is 5 years old next week) (for the 2 years post Warranty, that's saved me ~£200
I reckon I have done well! Had I bought 2 years Euro Breakdown cover, plus 3 throttle bodies, plus a camshaft, plus all the Labour it would have been over £3k easily (if done at a main dealer)!

In all my bikes (incl 6 BMW's) I have never had extended Warranty before, but it's been fab this time!!!

BUT - as I said, Bowker have been appalling especially in the most recent visits. I really have had a BAD time with them, so much so that I have lost trust and do not ever want to go back! I want an Indie service... Hence my summary in post #14 above (fingers crossed my Bike now runs without a hitch for a year or 2, otherwise it'll be my last BMW!)
Just make sure the indie is VAT registered for extended warranty terms to be satisfied.

you will no doubt have seen that Bowker will not have BMW Motorrad for much longer

time to crack open the Lambrini
