Hi,i have a BMW F800 GS from 2009 with the heated grip option. The handlebar grips are worn and the left hand one has split at the switchgear end. Is it possible to change the rubber grip without ruining the heated grip or do they come as a possibly expensive complete replacement? Thanks in advance for your help.

I think i have just found an answer to my own question,Wunderlich sell OEM grips that can be fitted to bikes with or without heated grips.:thumb

If you get them I would be interested to know what they are like.
Do they make the bar feel fatter?

They are either the original manufacturers grips or an exact copy so i dont see them being any different. I will let you know as i am ordering a set. Expensive at £27.00 though.

I had to replace just one of my heated grips.
£27.00 is, believe me, NOT expensive.

Yes this price £27.00 is for the grips only. They are an OEM copy from Wunderlich so i am expecting them to fit! Thanks for the information and the links:thumb There were the two styles available and they are probably Ariette grips.

The Arriette grips fitted ok and although the compound of the rubber is harder they look like they will last much longer. They are a little thicker but i can,t see any reduction in heat output from the heated grips. Not the easiest grips i have ever fitted but because of the foil type heating elements i was very careful removing the old grips, there wasn,t much glue on them fortunately. I used cheap hairspray to fit the new grips and they have set rock solid.

Just to bring this topic up again, has anyone fitted these
Grip Buddies from NippyNormans.

They fit over the existing grips but I wonder if that makes the grip rather fat.
Anyone tried them?

I use these and yes they make the grips feel thicker but you soon get used to it and the heated grips work fine once warmed up.

The plus point is your original grips are not been worn away once they are fitted so anyone with well worn grips should try these before the grips are through to the wires and avoid the expense of replacing the grips in the near future.:thumb
