They finally release a suit to compete with Klim that doesn't require a waterproof liner to be zipped in: http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/...rrad.com/com/en/individual/news/2011/news.jsp

Early 2017 for availability... and if you have to ask how much... :P

you should see the window on the trousers............

Mav !

I like it !

BMW did have other (triple layer) breathable waterproof suits ... they worked very well (imho) .

Such as this one; (ok itl ooks a bit "wanky" and not very "ADV") ...but never let me down.

The key feature for me; was the fantastically comfortable armour (Klim et al could learn) AND huge vents front and back for summer riding.

I honestly, can't think of another jacket/pants, that gives the same 100% waterproof/breathable capability and fantastic airflow for when you are in Spain/Morrocco/USA /Thailand etc !

Nice :thumb2 It's got a sensible height collar as well, something I find lacking in the Klim range.

Might be a good replacement for my Streetguard 3 when it eventually expires .... although after many thousands of miles of use in all weathers there's no sign of it leaking yet and it does seem pretty bombproof.

Yeah, the tourshell is a really nice bit of kit, particularly with that zip out liner you can use as a jacket. Not sure I'd want to use it offroad tho...

Love my Streetguard 3 for commuting/work. It also took road tumble really well for me last winter.

I know , what were they thinking ?

My work colleagues all have Klim and speak so highly of it .... but every time I try a jacket on, I find that stupid "extended" collar and conclude "WTF?"

I think we all want similar things ... It has to be waterproof ( forget waterproof liners, thats dumb, if you ride every day "on tour" when the outer never dries!)

We want proper armour, good longevity ( if you pay £700 it has to last more than 3 years !)
We don't like huge logos ( RUKKA WTF?)

It should feel good when you put it on!

Lastly; ( this is the one that screws most ADV suits...It has to have "decent vents" so you can wear it when its 28 - 32C maybe more? )

Stuart, how realistic is the Tourshell suit for the height of summer in southern Europe, ie. 40+ºC? I use my SG3 pretty well most of the year here but the last couple of trips I've made to Spain I've used a BMW Airflow suit, completely vented but I've had a good soaking a couple of times when there's been a major downpour! It's also easy to get dehydrated with too many vents.

Plus it's bloomin' freezing heading back north to Cheshire

Stu.

About bloody time. My Rallye suit was the most comfortable suit I've ever had, but the deal breaker was the lack of waterproofenesssss. If this is as soft and comfortable, I'm in. And it's not covered in logos, so BMW have obviously read that thread from a while back!:P

Bobbin Man - Its surprisingly able ! the vents are huge and they really do "flow "

I've certainly used it in Thailand where it was 35 ish and California when it was 33-35, the only time it was frustrating was the slow "filling" hassles when a group of 20 bikes refueled at some rural gas-station! We all baked then !
When on the move - it's fantastic. A truly flexible year round jacket.

Like you; I've realised that on tour you simply can't take two jackets, (been there and the luggage situation, with camp gear, was laughable)

I agree on an air flow mesh one, cant be "trusted" to and from the south coast ferry!

(I'm editing to add more info ... In the winter, a cheap £80 Oxford heated gillet with 5 heat settings means the Tourshell 2 is good down to about 4 C and for 300 miles ) Suits me!

Bobbin man; This is my airflow jacket , I wouldnt use it on a trip though !
