One thing that has always 'bugged' me about the XCountry is bare frame around the filler cap and the lack of cover compared to the XChallenge

In the scheme of things it's no 'biggie' for most people

However our American cousins get a cover, but Euro spec bikes don't for some strange reason (theirs is that they come with a charcoal cannister)

So I found the parts and priced them up, the cost is less than £20, from your local BMW Motorrad main dealer

Black Plastic Cover 4662 7 708 857 £10.80

(2) Flanged screws 4663 7 708 777 - about a £1 each

Rear Bracket 1611 7 696 960 - about £7

Pic of rear bracket fitted - you'll need a small length M5 fastener of some sort to mount it to the frame hole, already on the bike

Cover fitted

Bike now 'matches' up both sides

With the seat re-fitted

A small, cheap mod, that I think completes the bike

Small amount of pennies to give it the finished look.

I'll be getting them next time I'm down at Rainbow.

Good find JB.

Cheers Dave.

I'm sorry but that is playing havoc with my OCD, it just looks wonky and doesn't seam to flow with the rest of the lines on the bike.

Sorry again, i'll craw back under the rock that I emerged from.

I agree with you ... looks like a solution looking for a problem :nenau

I'll not be running off to the dealer JB, I honestly think it looks crap, fits in with nothing

You mean the bit that looks like a motorbike and not a vacuum cleaner? :D

Why are you so interested in a girl's bike......................fuck off and twiddle with your manly KTM

Leave me and Micky to our girly bikes, in peace:D

No need to take it out on me, after all it wasn't me who said ...

but you really are quite a tart

As long as you like it (despite the above) that's all that matters :D:D

It was just banter, about KTM's:P

I'm happy and that's all that counts........just a small item, nothing more and no biggie

Some people will like it or hate it, who cares:blagblah

Just something I wanted to do, after seeing it on AdvRider and if others want to make use of the part numbers quoted, then I've helped them out

If others don't - I won't lose sleep tonight:D

All very noble mate and if you do lose any sleep (if it may not now be complete after all), blame Micky:D

Anyway, couldn't you tweak it so it follows the line of the seat?

Maybe:thumby:

Perhaps just needs a tweak of the rear bracket, however I don't think my pics do it justice

Been out tonight, on a few lanes and it looks ok in daylight
