BMW Gore-tex clothing...beware

For all of those out there spending their hard-earned cash on BMW clothing.. a word of warning.

BMW only offer their standard 2 year warranty on all their clothing. That includes and garmet that may start to leak. If it starts to leak after two years you are stuffed.

Why is this so bad?

Well WL Gore guarantee their product for the life of the product against leaks.

Also Hein Gericke offer a five year guarantee on all their Gore-tex clothing.

So, I now have a leaking pair of boots that are just under 3 years old and am having to beg BMW to review the situation in light of the WL Gore guarantee.

Whats really annoying is that the HG Tuareg boot is all but identical and would have had a standard 5 year warranty.

So what's to stop you invoking the Gore-Tex guarantee...?

Can't you go direct to Gore-Tex for the five year guarantee? The way I understand it GT test the membrane and if it leaks due to failure (rather than misuse, damage etc) then you should be entitled to a replacement / repair.

This is true and if it comes to it I will send them up for testing. I hve spoken to them and they sound helpful. Obviously I would prefer to keep it simple and do it at the dealers to prevent being without my winter boots for weeks on end.

I have some dainise Goretex over trouses which have a two year guarentee , they leaked when they were about 3 years old , when i returned them to the retailer they told me two years and they could not do anything about it , i pointed out the Gore warrenty was five . they said it they would check .

I called Gore directly they agreed i went back to the dealer , trousers went of to gore, they tested them , agreed they leaked , and dainise provided a new pair . in fact just been through it again , the replacement pair leaked just over a year old . Picked up a new pair a week ago .

Call WH Gore directly.
