BMW GSPD digital clock info needed

Just bought a cheap used factory digi clock (the ugly square effort that sits on the bars), but no wiring loom. I've spoken to motorworks to try and buy the loom, but they can't find the part, and think it's in the existing loom and needs to be pulled out. Has anyone fitted the clock before, and if so, do I need to delve into the wiring to find an existing bit or is there indeed a plug in wire?.

The earlier bikes have the sockets in the black headlight housing. I'm not sure where they are in the later bikes though.

That looks very similar to a pc hard drive socket.

...peel back some of the black tape in the wiring harness under the tank. You should find a plug that fits that shape (as circled in the photo below).
I believe white/ivory in color. I had one on each of the GS's and GSPD's years '91 through 95.
All the bikes came "wire" ready for all the options that were available.
Also you can find the "heated grip" connectors if you need to install that option also.

On my 91 bike there is a white/cream coloured three holed socket about 4 inch from headstock under center tube. There is also the heated grip socket - I supose you will have to work out the wires as to which are live all time and which is the backlight light

I fitted a clock and voltemeter to my 1991 R100 Gs, I used haynes manual for reference on wire colours and it differed slightly from the wiring diagram above linked by Bob whereby there is an additional green wire shown for the clock connection, 4 wires in all. Anyway I couldn't find the connector so wired it up using a fused connection to battery and piggybacking off tail light wire. Not the most elegant looking solution but better than no solution at all. If you do have a photo wilbjr of the correct plug to connect to and whereabouts it might be located on the loom could you post it or email it to me? That would be great and saves the trouble of tearing about with the cloth tape that holds the loom together.:thumb Bill I've attached a pic of loom from othetr side, only one free connector but the wire colours ( blue/white, red/yellow and brown)don't match haynes diagram so not sure what that is for

No problem. I'll have the tank off tomorrow and take a photo. Incidentally took my clock off as bar risers won.
 
I remember fitting that clock back in '91 on my new R80 GS and the connector was indeed wrapped in tape on the bike. I remember it well as the clock at the time was more than 100 notes (a lot of money just for a little digital clock).
