Anybody know the best place to buy the BMW clear headlight protector?
I've had a quick google and I think about £77 is the best price I can find?

I think a lot of us have opted for non-BMW headlight protectors. Seems like the popular choice is Touratech and Wunderleich. Not that hardly anyone cares but strictly speaking the BMW one isn't road legal and is for off road use only.

I have the BMW one and quite like it. I would imagine all them aren't technically legal.

Perhaps, but I think the issue with the BMW one is that it allows the light to be refracted due to it being angled whereas the other ones are head-on.

I have heard that one before. I've tested against a wall when I was setting the level and could not see a difference with it on and off

I have the BMW one which I like, IMHO it suits the bike....BUT don't even try to fit it yourself, without taking numerous panels of you need 6 spider fingers on each hand, believe me it's near on impossible....Get your dealer to fit it....As for the legality, their all for off road use only but some fair better than others at night time, the BMW one being one of the worst, I now just 'pop' it off and put it in the top box after dark.

I fit it myself and yeah it was a pain. The one last circlip was impossible to get back on so all the panels had to come off

Exactly what I did but your perseverance was great than mine, I had to get Allan Jefferies to fit the little bugger for me.

Had to love the instruction that came with it...."Tilt headlight forwards" to gain access....it doesn't tilt on the 16 onwards model lol

I have the Touratech metal grille headlight guard fitted.

Easily removable for washing etc.

Keep it fitted during daytime use, take it off and put it in top box for dark/night time use.

I have the wunderlich one and think it works really well. You can tilt it forwards if you want for night use but I have found it makes no difference to the beam throw

Thanks everyone. I really like the look of the BMW one, looks good on their Trophy comp bikes and is the only one that keeps the headlight clean.
Just need to find one at a good price now. I don't mind the fitting side of it, the comments have just turned it into a challenge for me :)

True story. To this day I don't know how i managed it without taking the panel off. I think I got away with just the beak off, and angled pincer pliers are a must.
You should get it free if you manage to fit it by yourself as a reward.

I have ordered several accessories recently from Rainbow BMW, research on the web then order what you want by telephone and they discount their web advertised prices especially if they are avoiding paying fees to other parties such as Paypal or e-bay. A win win situation for them and us too! :beerjug:
