bmw in a van?

Hi all
Can anyone on the forum tell me if the 1200 will go in a van with the screen + mirrors taken off or even a measurement when level when sitting on, floor to handlebar grip height please . van type Renault traffic or Nissan primastar.low roof . found a spec sheet on the net but does not give real height. thanks pistonbroke scooby.

I'm sure someone will give you an acurate measurement, any time now.

But in the meantime, my GS with Adventure screen, on it's centerstand, is approx 160cm to top of screen, to grips approx 125cm.

Have just measured 128cm from floor to handlebars with bike on centrestand; (About 150 with screen on.)

1200 GS will fit in VW T5 if you take the screen off.. Mirrors get in the way but it'll fit if you turn the bars as you roll it in.

Put it on the side stand, in gear and strap in WELL down....it won't go on the main stand.

(and if you have a fancy spongy mat load bay cover like what I do then use a thin plank of wood to spread the side stand load...)

yep will go in my vivaro, same van with screen off and handle bars slacked off and tipped down, i back the van up to a bank and role it down a plank, just remember you have ltd stearing with the handlebars rolled down and watch the beak doesnt rub on the bulk head.

quite used to transporting my bikes round to tracks etc ,had two thou's in a van before but not sure about the gs, my old 1150 adv would have been a struggle to get in ,but the 1200 is not quite so big and lighter .

Will also go in a nissan vannette cargo. how do I know this ? At some point most 1200gs's will end up in a van.

I've got a Nissan Primastar which is the same as the Renault Traffic.
I collected my Adventurer with it, as long as you take off the mirrors and screeen it goes in a piece cake. Just be careful not to spit the plank out as you ride it in.

thanks ,thought i might have to undo the handle bars on the pinch bolts and move down a little to get in , even better if will go straight in . today have to pick the bike up from the dealers ,thanks again. pb

Sometimes it's because they undo the mirrors and can't work out how to make them straight again.

Othertimes, it may be because the can't get two helmets in the panniers and are dissapointed

The obvious reason is that they can afford to do it; I had a perfectly good 2004GS and I also run an old Ford Focus. I decided to treat myself and part exchanged the bike, (not the car and thus saved myself a lot of money) - of course I could have put the money for the P/E into B & B shares or something sensible, but I am please to be helping the econo my(whose I am not sure!);

Not all are Trendies, I've not updated my 1983 R80g/s, cos I can't think of anything as good to replace her.

I could afford to, but am not interested, I have just bought a more modern 650 Beemer to accompany Gertie, but it is a 1988 R65 g/s not a chain driven rotax/ aprillia/ chinky abomination

Well, from what I've seen, it wold be to get a much nicer bike all round, with much improved quality of materials, and a bit more power.

I think that I paid £4,000 to change my 55 for a new 58, where both had pretty much all the toys added, and I am very happy to have changed.

I think that this will be al I need from a bike now. But I did say the same with the last one...

the bike went straight in the van ,easy ,just took screen off and mirrors .
before it goes out on the road i shall lag it in wax and oil so it will not have the dreaded rust problems. poor thing will never look the same .
