I think he said this:

integral abs IN the CRITICISM the power of an annoyed customer got BMW over the InterNet to feel: Is integral theABS lethal? A stocktaking and a document of our high-prepared technique age.

 :D

It's true!

I have just received a re-call notice. The brakes are to be removed and replaced with hard rubber blocks worked by metal rods and acting on the wheel rims!

Investigation closed in Germany

Hi folks,

today I got the message of the Federal Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Drivers in Flensburg/Germany. The second investigation is closed. No issue for them, again.

Well - as we all have known before, failing brakes are legal at all. I am not surprised. Not at all. Legally, they could sell defective brakes with residual brake funktion and a warning light. That's the truth!

I really wish everybody the best not to experience ever brake failure at high speed, because I have my doubts that everybody can handle this situation properly. The reasons were discussed in the past. You know training with residual brake action could improve your skills in case of an emergency. It's up to you.

According to BMW in the interview the next brake generation will be served without servos.

I was told today that BMW have told my dealer to replace my servo straight away. Maybe I was just unlucky with the failure.

Do they ask in the UK BMW if they should replace the unit? I cant believe that, what you are telling. Of course they have to replace a unit immediately after brake failure.

There is no question in security issuses. Or - is there a question?

I'm sure I posted this in UKGSER before, but let me post again....

My Land Rover Discovery suffered a failure when the vacuum pump sheared meaning no servo was available. My wife, who was driving the car with my two children as passengers, brought the car to a halt using residual braking and the handbrake (which on a Land Rover works on the drive shaft). The AA relayed it back to the local Land Rover dealer. I never saw the car agin. I said I didn't want it back and if it came back I wouldn't drive it, so Land Rover coughed up the termination fees to the lease company and that was that.

I don't see BMW doing the same thing with their rusting R1150GS bikes which have servo failures simply because the rear brake switch is faulty (as happened to my bike a few weeks ago)

Mike
