BMW key to givi

I’m sure it’s been done here before but this is for anybody that doesn’t know. I successfully modified the locks on both my givi tank bag and givi top box to be able to use my bmw key. Also ordered a key from Timpsons ready to be cut when it arrives, so now I can keep my wireless key fob on a chain round my neck and use the new key for my seat, top box and tank bag. No more risk of leaving in my seat and losing it and no more carrying 3 keys also. The guy in timpsons is confident he can get the right blank. I’ll update when he gets it in and cut it as he didn’t have it in stock. ( I think it was listed as the same blank as ducati). Obviously it will not have a chip installed but I only plan to use it for the seat, sat nav lock and now my givi tank lock bag and top box. I plan to either sew the main key fob in my bike pants or put on a chain round my neck. Hopefully less chance of me losing it.

Take a pic of your key and send it to..

Take a photo of your key and send email it to https://keysinthepost.com/. They will cut a new blade (for luggage, seat lock etc.) and send it to you within a couple of days. About £15.

Any key company worth its salt will have a blank. Alternatively, go to your local friendly stealer with your Vin No and they will order a BMW key for you for about £25.

I called into my local Timpsons a couple of months ago and asked about cutting a BMW key for my luggage, they refused point blank, said they were not allowed to do it even with ID!!

Guy at Timpsons rang yesterday to say key blank has now come in and is ready to cut key, unfortunately I’ll probably not get chance to get there until Saturday. The cost of the key was £12.50 so not a bad price. Will update the post if it works when I get it done.

Any later style key would do for me as I’ll re-key it to fit my panniers, don’t suppose anyone got has a spare from a previously owned bike?

Just got back from Timpsons. Key cut, tested and it works a treat in seat, givi tank lock bag and givi top box and all for £12.50

I’m looking for a spare set of locks for some alloy panniers, anyone got some?
