BMW Krauser MKM1000 ~

Faster than a Jota :jes

Sorry, it may be 'history' but it's still a WMB.

(Mutters)..........trying to compare that to a Jota, Pah! ;)

Didn't that bike come with the 4 valve heads? They do not appear to be on the bike. :eek

Hmmm...that's what I thought. A few other nice bikes in the background!

This bike sale has already been posted and discussed in the pub, along with the 4 valve heads made of cheese. . :D

That did seem a trifle 'optimistic' :D

I'd say it was a downright lie :D

In the eighties a chap was telling me just before we went on a rideout how much faster his new CBR600 was than my Jota. He should have waited till we'd got back before making a judgement..he wouldn't have looked such a knob if he had.

As I believe the vendor is Dave Minton, & he collaborated with the Slater Bros. over the years, including many miles on Laverda Triples, I'd say he was well placed to make an informed judgement.

There were a few ways to get a MKM .

One was to buy frame and body kit , and fit your own drive train and suspension. Four valve heads were optional.

Another way was to buy one one of the bikes commissioned by BMW - they had special and matching engine, gearbox and frame numbers, and always had the four valve heads. They are the definite MKM specials, and were potent, if short lived bikes.

There were probably a few other ways of getting one , including getting Mike and probably HPN to build you one to your spec, and these could be claimed to be genuine MKMs too, if documentation was supplied.

So before you paid big money for one you would want to know exactly what you were buying, as a matching number MKM is worth a lot more than a home made two valve kit bike.

But if you spent the same money on a Laverda you were into a whole different ball game.

CafeBeemers laverda special
