BMW LED Lights

BMW do not have the monopoly on LED lights.
Have a surf about and see if anything else comes up.
For instance, this popped up:

OK, they are American (and not cheaper) but it shows that alternatives are out there.

IMO they are not, try Hawk lamps at motohaus.com or bikevis.com, I got LED lamps from the latter, and for making you more visible I would say they do the job, if you need more light to see maybe HID headlamp bulb would be better??

They are more like fog lights designed to illuminate the sides of the road and close to the vehicle. If you want range then update your main lights to HID.
BTW I have both HID and the AUX LED, and the LED lights help a lot in weather like tonight (where it is nice to see the standing water and the edge of the road in high winds) or when riding in twisties in the country at night and don't like what happens to the main/dipped beam as you lean in.

i take it the £490 includes fitting as you can buy bmw kit for £380 ?
personally I think they are a bit expensive, have a look at these which are plug and play very simple to fit, theres a dvd shows you the fitting, an added bonus is that the light bar supplied has all the holes pre drilled if you wish to mount HID ballasts in future to convert your headlamps to HID. The lights are halogen and I bought them mainly for being more visible and I think they look good also.

Basic description of fitting for you though
HID Burners (the bulbs) connect to a ballast unit (small metal block about the size of a cigarette pack) and then this connects to the existing bulb connectors.
Les's kits (at least when I bought mine) came with replacement rear caps for the headlight housing that have the wires fed through them and a bracket to fit the ballast units under the oil cooler.
Easy to fit with a small amount of dismantling of the screen/beak area of the GS - and it's possible that Les might offer a ride to fitting service.

I greatly appreciate the replies guys. I've sent Les a message as I think he's the man to sort my bike out. I'm a big BMW fan but their units seem pricey and nobody can tell me if they work better for the rider in the dark. HID's seem to be very popular on this site though.

Sure the BMW lights will just drop into the CANBUS but for £490 and a bit of Wassall you could have HID side, main, Micro DE and some FF50 spots to boot. But if you want Bring More Wonga to get your money.......

If you are going down the HID route, just do the dip beam. Chances are you will need nothing more. Trust me and save some money.
