Me and a mate have just got back from the BMW Offroad Skills Level 1 course and are looking for local options to play around offroad.

Beeston Pit is the most obvious venue, but we're wondering what scope there is for getting the bikes dirty elsewhere in the flatlands.

I'm looking at buying an road-legal bike, like a DR-something, and I'll be popping over to the next TRF meeting to see what they recommend. However, we'd still be interested in options that don't need MOT'd and taxed bikes, as there's a chance that a 14-year-old might want to come along as well.

Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

If you wanna have a play to try it all out you are welcome to borrow the road legal Kwaka 250 I have just bought off of Noddy..
Only rules are I will need to see you are insured for riding it on the road and you bend it you mend it ! :)

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated.

I've got plans afoot for bike of my own at the moment, but I may well take you up on the offer later.

Why don't you and Charlie get two of the BM's from the off-road fleet, not the ones you used obviously :augie. Also, don't get number 34, it's the one I dropped and broke my ribs on :(

Glad to see you are 'going for it', I still smile when I think about what a good time we all had:thumb2

Yeah, I keep seeing this lovely weather and just want to get out and play!

I'm not sure I could afford one of the school's fleet as my budget is for less than a grand. So, although they're likely to be good value, I doubt they will be quite that cheap.

I'm currently debating about Kyle's DR650, but it's a big logistics headache which is why I haven't quite decided on that one yet. Mind-you, if anyone knows of a reasonable 400-600cc bike for around £800-£1000, I'd be interested if finding out more.

Thanks for the info, some interesting tracks there, and a search or two has chucked up some more.

I'm going to try and hook up with the local TRF chaps next week and see if I can get details of any tracks or meetings in the area.

Looking for some green lanes myself, after doing the level 2 course went out and got a DRZ 400 E cost £1,400 and is great for what your looking for £71 to insure and £25 for tax. I got a thread going at the moment looking for green lanes. If your near MK then there is an enduro track off junction 14 M1 that looks good.

Regards

Mick
