Having been on the Level 1 course a couple of times now I am considering going on the level 2 course.

Anyone been on it? Comments please good, bad and indifferent.

Level 2

I'm doing level 2 and the adventure day in a week or so's time - it'll be the 3rd time I've done level 2. I'm still no good - but, hell, it's a great couple of days riding on someone else's bm with top training and at price that reasonable. :clap

The guys down S. Wales know their stuff - they can figure out who can do what and usually split level 2 into those with more capability and those who have progressed a bit from level 1 and want a harder (but not a suicidally hard challange)

got most of way through level 2 but crashed and broke hand. Could have made it I think but could not see point in doing myself proper harm.

It's not that hard to do level two but try to avoid the G650 landslide obstacle

Found that they spent too much time revising on the first day. You do need to be in reasonably good shape otherwise fatigue will set in and that's then the accidents happen. Jumping a 1200 is fun! When I did my level 2 it was 35 Degrees. Camelbak required.

The day I most enjoyed was the Brecon Beacons ride out that I did following the level 2. Did this late in the season and they let us take 1200s (usually they don't want to risk smashing them up and drowning them). Trashed mine by lunchtime. :thumb

Got a 650 for the afternoon. :(

This is a hard day. Damage amongst the group was two broken ancles and numerous minor bumps and bruises.

WEAR GOOD GEAR, DON'T DO IT IF YOU'RE OUT OF SHAPE!

would agree with firebird,

there was lots of revision and I picked myself the medium group so christ knows what the hard group would have been like! Was riding out of my skin on day one PM to keep up. Did really well no dropping the bike or anything even vaguely scary. Day two was going fine till we went to the worst bit of the course I end up with two punctures and then crashed for good measures.

level two follows the same pattern as level one there are several groups within the course and so you can pick how badly you want to hurt yourself!

I got it wrong and it was plain bad luck! the course is good but you need to prepare for it.

Thanks for the info guys.

What aspects does it cover. Someone mentioned powerslides but what else?

power slides, 360 power turns, tail flicks, diagonal hill ups and downs, bit more water if your lucky, ruts, how to change from rut to rut, small jumps, doughnuts, gravity stops. plus something else but it depends which group your in... we did all that.

Sounds like a big step up from Level 1  As a novice rider who hadn't done any of this stuff before they made the Level 1 feel very comfortable and accessible. This list for level 2 sounds pretty daunting... or maybe I'm just a big girls blouse :o

20 years ago I rode a bit of dirt for fun at weekends

Last year my partner did level 1. Her reports made it seem a bit tame, so I opted to go straight to level 2 (it helped knowing Simon) :ymca

I enjoyed it immensely, but because they spent almost all of the first day revising level 1, I didn’t find it that tough. I did take a fall on the changing ruts part but TBH it wasn’t that tough. The water ride at the end of day 2 was brill. :)

as a list it sounds bad but it flows very naturally and as I said it there are three/ four groups at level 2 same as level 1. If in doubt pick a lower group and you'll spend more time revising or covering the stuff. Rather than being in at the deep end and feeling over your head.

have it!
