Bought a BMW Motard Helmet when I got the new GS last month. Looks great, mat black and grey, and really suits the image of the bike. BUT having only used it a couple of times it is not the most comfortable of helmets. Probably should have gone for the Tour X, although putting my faithfull Arai RX on has reminded me just how good it really is.

Plus points to the Motard helmet are probably its weight, or specifically its lack of weight. It really is very light compared to the Tour X. It also has a great field of vision, lovely big/deep visor. Downside, well after using it for a few hundred miles I just can't get comfortable with it.

Moral of this story, if you have an Arai head you have an Arai head and its best to get an Arai helmet !

EDITED...Sorry chaps, gotta be sponsors to buy/sell stuff, and it should be in the FS&W forum :thumb

I've left the rest as it may be of interest to someone buying one ;)

My last 2 helmets have been Arai`s and I thought I had an Arai shaped head, but trying on a Tour X has proved that I don't have an Arai head! I currently have a Arai Corsair RX 7, which is size small, but trying on the Tour X, the small was too tight and the Medium was to loose. :(

I ordered one of the BMW Enduro helmets in white silver quite sometime ago, but still waiting.

Question for anybody who has the BM Enduro helmet is, have you fitted an intercom to it and did it fit in OK?

BMW Enduro Helmet

Hi....

I'm new to the UKGSr site...actually, I live in the USA but I do own 2 GSers:

2003 1150GS Adventure - Red/Grey with no ABS and used out on trails and planning a trip to Baja Mexico.

1990 R100GS Paris Dakar - Red/White with very, very low miles. I'm the second owner (been in my stable for 7 years) and have completed stripped it down and repair or replaced most items....plus thoroughly cleaned...looks like new and planned on keeping, but wife is getting noisy.

Why I joined your site, beyond having access to a great group of like minded riders, is to ask for a BIG favor.

I'm trying to buy a BMW Enduro Helmet and need some suggested dealers to email/phone. Looking for a Medium in White Metallic.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Damon

Damon, The Motard helmets are like rocking horse doo doo to get at the moment. However any good BM dealer will order one in for you. You'll have to wait a good few weeks but it will come eventually. Finding one that will post it to you may be harder.

Dealers Willing to Ship to the USA

Thanks for the suggestion.....

I've attempted to contact Plymoth, but are there any other dealers that are likely to ship to the USA?

Thanks,

Damon

Park Lane VMW

You should be able to get one but I suspect that the dealer will only have the one colour and a couple of sizes. Clarks have the matt black ones in a couple of sizes for example.

Clarks got one for me last Wednesday and 1,850 miles later (I went to Garmisch with Blowzorn over the weekend) and it is much better. They feel really really tight in the shop when they are new. However, the padding in the roof of the helmet does settle in and it becomes much more comfortable. Lee at Clarks fitted an Autocom headset to it and it was a a bugger. I've had it apart a few times and you really need to pull all the little bits of soft foam off to get in in there properly but there aren't pockets like there are with the System helmets.

My other current helmets are an Arai Quantum F and a BMW Integral so the Enduro helmet isn't significantly different but they are mega tight straight out of the box.

Does anyone know who make them? It isn't Schuberth....

Paul.

Oh yes, I thought I'd mention that they are quiet and the peak doesn't whip your head around when checking your blind spot. I get a faint vibe at 75-80mph but it goes away below and above that speed.

If you've ever followed a 1200GSA you will know that the turbulence off them is unreal and the Enduro helmet is still good behind that. I've never tried a Tour-X but even given my admiration of Arai's build quality I couldn't buy a helmet that reportedly makes your eyeballs fall out due to the vibes off of the peak ;-)

Paul.
