BMW motorcycle protective clothing

I bought a second hand BMW Seattle jacket & trousers, the jacket didn't come with the liner. I was initially concerned that the goretex was in the missing liner. But, no it is in the outside material. Consequently the jacket / trousers don't get sodden or take ages to dry out. The zip is not one of those that just links jacket / trousers together for 6", but only leaves about 6" unzipped. It seems better to have the Goretex on the outside as opposed to a lining.

Personally, I've given up hunting for a jacket that does everything well in summer or winter. Much of BMWs gear is seriously overpriced and I would feel foolish to buy it. So I use a onepiece waterproof if it rains, over a summer jacket with plenty of ventilation. If I need warmth I add a polarfleece, which becomes a light jacket when I'm off the bike in a bar or house. If youre longdistance travelling all items should ideally have more than one purpose.

I've been disapointed with all bike gear Ive bought, and the above solution is the one for me.

Dont forget that expensive Goretex is fine if youre walking and generating heat - this enables the fabric to work properly, as Goretex needs a little bit of thermal pressure to operate. On a bike you generate so little that Goretex doesnt work. Thats why BMW recommend a w/proof overjacket to be used with G/tex. So why pay all that dosh?

Forget fashion, who cares?

Beemer lovers have been conditioned to pay too much from the moment they bought their bikes, as with the clothing.

I bought my Master IV (Hein Gericke) suit after advice from people on this site. I cannot under emphasize the quality, comfort and practicality of this purchase. It has performed flawlessly for over two years in various and sometimes extreme hot, cold and wet climates. It has never leaked, cooked or chilled me. On my recommendation two friends of mine have also bought the same suit and they are also extremely happy. One of my friends had a recent "off" and went along the road at just over 40mph, IT DIDN`T EVEN PULL ANY STITCHES! (Great suit - get one :thumb )
 
Have a Rallye 2 suit, which is excellent. Rode 6 hours in driving rain no leaks at all. When I stripped the liners to dry them out they didnt appear to be wet.

Also have HG Master 4 Kit which I would also recommend & its a few hundred quid cheaper.

What about the T shirt and shorts i wear in summer -

Glad i'm not german, to many rules and regulations - you must wear this, you must wear that - You must wear the clothes with the right regulation number - Do i care, Go do one . you clone
 
When I bought my bike this spring I got a deal on last years tourguard jacket and this years pants. I really like them. I used to wear leather, but this stuff is much better.

I looked at the "Jofama" site. But, the Model wearing the clothes does not look "GS" enough for me to buy their stuff.

Really, I would like to be able to see and feel the stuff. My tourguard stuff is not very thick. It's fine for the city and around town, but for a spill at 70 mph. It does not look or feel like it would be enough.

Clear enough? You can wear, or not wear, whatever you like as far as I'm concerned.

I just think that if a manufacturer implies that clothing is protective, it should be.

Halvarsson had a stand at the NEC show .Their new range which comes out in January was on display.
Very bright, very well designed with 3 stage waterproofing and venting.
New catalogue due out in about 5 weeks.
They also have a dealer outlet in Tallin.

I was very impressed with the stuff on the Halvarsson stand too. i didn't realise at the time that their gear had come out so well in the Ride tests.
 
Any wimmin here having experiences with BMW Belice clothing? Was thinking about it for my other half. Prices are affordable range on eBay for these and wimmin seem to like them reading different feedbacks from the web. Is that true?

For me still HG Tuareg series seems to be very good option. Seen around 60€ for jacket in eBay flying around and if guys here say it's "bang for a buck" then maybe worth a shot, eh? :beer:
 
What to wear

I've bought my gear from Hien Gericke, couldn't afford the BMW stuff, what I saved bought me lots of :beer:
