Does this use the same mapping as the ride connected app that goes in the cradle?

Yes you use this with the app and this fits into the sat nav prep cradle on the bike and you can transfer routes from each other

Does this app do off road routes? Say if I download an off road gpx and send it does it recalculate the route to go on the road, as the app used to be road only with the connect phone cradle?

I’m not sure I only used it for 2 weeks on road

Thank you, will do some more investigating

I use Calimoto for route planning, either on my computer or phone, I know other people use My Route App and others in a similar way. Save the gpx file to the cloud (iCloud in my case but Dropbox, Google, OneDrive etc would presumably work). Import the GPX file into the BMW app on my phone, which automatically syncs with the BMW cloud. As soon as you switch on the Connected Navigator the route appears automatically and Bob’s yer uncle.

Yes, until you try something like the TET off road gpx then because it’s Tom Tom based it tries to reroute you back on the road.

The only app I’ve found that will keep you on the track you send it and give you directions is OSMand. The only draw back with it is its search engine for postcodes and addresses is not the best when using it as a road navigator.
