I've sold my gs and don't imagine i'll buy another anytime soon. I still have the nav 5 , is it possible to get some kind of kit to transfer it to my yamaha mt09 ? Is it a worthwhile job or would I be better off selling it and buying something new?

If you like the 5 then you could wire a mount in along with a Ram mount.
My personal view is that its time to move on and go to an XT or XT2, which is where I shall be when the GS goes.

You can definitely buy a mount.
I have a Nav V that I move between my GSA, My 2009 Yamaha and a brand new Honda. (y)

Edit: You can see it here on the Honda. It's a RAM mount that sits on top of the brake fluid Reservoir. It's must be pretty universal as I had it moved from my 2014 Burgman to my 2023 Forza.

If there is nothing wrong with the Nav V device, keep it.

The cradle can be fitted to any bike. All it takes is a power supply and a suitable method of securing the mount to the bike.

Thanks for the replies gents. I'll see if I can find a garmin mount and wiring to power it

You can choose between a simple mount like the one in Ex CC Chimp’s photo or the more sophisticated 4-button one. I have the 4-button mounted on a bar above the TFT on my Multistrada. The simple one on a RAM mount is also a perfectly good solution.

If you want to try the XT, do but don’t get rid of the Nav5. You see lots of threads on here about dodgy XTs and Nav6s. Never see bad things about Nav5 though - and as soon as they come up for sale, those in the know snap ‘em up…

You can use the zumo 660 mount, the bmw 4 button mount and even the later r1200/1250 gs lc mount on other bikes , I have the 4 button mount on my ktm 1090 and had a lc mount on my r1150gs until I found a touratech mount for sale

Thanks again Lads, thats great stuff ! thats the mount sorted. Do I need to do more than run a live/earth wire to the battery to power it via a fuse ?

You can do it that way but better to sort out a switched live so the mount is only live when the ignition is switched on
