Hello all,

I managed to get a used Nav II and I am now looking for a suitable mount for a 12gs. Does anyone know of any options other than the BMW one? Ideally one that will also work on the 12GSA.

Thanks

I went with the Motorrad Concepts mount after trying the original BMW one on the bar clamps.

I find the unit over the clocks far superior, you don't have to drop your eyes as much and the instrument consul is not blocked.

Thanks for the info chaps :thumb . I'll have a look at the motorrad concepts one, although I am not sure if this will also work on the Adventure as this has an extra bar running accross the middle part of the screen.

Hey Thunder,

do you have your Nav II wired directly into the battery? All I have is a power cable that terminates into a car power socket end. It seems to work ok, but I just wondered if I should really be powering direct from the battery?

The "car lighter" type end on the cable does not look terribly waterproof.

Thanks

Our GPS I for the 1200GS does not fit the Adventure for the reasons you mention, however we have a specific mount under development for the Adventure which should be ready in May.....

Cheers

There is a power outlet right at the front of the headstock specifically for GPS units and I used that as the unit came with the cable with the bmw connector.

Have not had to source a connector but I have seen some threads mentioning places who could supply them, it seems the official cable is a tad expensive

Not sure if I would like to wire it direct to the battery, could forget to turn it off and the darn thing could be on for days :D

Hec,

If you decide to go the BM route and buy the cable to plug into the loom make sure you get the correct one, ie Nav II or Nav II Plus (depending on what model you have).

I've just had my Nav II replaced under warranty by a Nav II Plus, the cables although identical to look at, don't work with the wrong unit (took me a while to work out what the 'fault' was). :mmmm

Thanks Chaps, I have the Nav II Plus. I didnt even know that there was a power socket at the front of the bike :o . I'll have a look tonight. I guess it wont get as wet as plugging it in under the seat.

Thanks again.
