I went to plumb my new navigator into the Autocom and found no 3.5mm Jack next to the power cables
In the Montana manual it shows power, data and audio connectors coming out of the mount cable . Without bluetooth, I have no way to listen to the driving directions...

Have I been sold a duffer?

I have the standard mount that came with the BMW Navigator Adventure (Montana 600)
At the end of the cable are only power cables - unless the BMW techs removed...

Just talked to CW Motorcycles, who confirmed that none of the units have an audio connector. Their suggestion was to use a cable connected to the audio out on the sat-nav unit.

They are looking into if the Garmin mount would work - man, would they really disable this in the unit?

I don't want to have a headphone socket to connect everytime, when the Garmin Adventure mount should have this already available. :blast

What does it show when you press power button

I have Montana 600 and the rugged mount.
The options on pressing the power button change depending on how the unit is connected. When it is in my rugged mount, it also gives me an option of audio volume. What does it do when you plug yours to your mount?

I personally think that the audio output is not disabled, but the unit is probably connected via canbus connector. As such, they did not bother to do anything with the jack audio output.
Did you connect the unit yourself? Or did dealer do it?

If you are desperate for the separate audio output, you might like to inspect the cable you have, or get the same one as on rugged mount.

Just checked mine, there's an audio cable that takes a standard headphone jack bundled with the power cable.

Is that the Garmin Montana, or the BMW Navigator Adventure?
I'm referring to the latter which does not - unless there is a faulty batch as the dealer looked in a number of them.

I've got a Montana, with the Garmin rugged mount - the Montana has a headphone jack on the side, bottom right, under a water resistant flap. The powered mount has the normal power cable, plus what Garmin calls data cables, plus an audio cable.

I thought the BMW Navigator was just a black Montana, but of course they did obscure access to audio inputs on the Nav IV when it was in the BMW mount....

Hope that helps:thumb2

This is what i have complained to BMW about - removing the audio output if there is bluetooth is (not really) understandable on the Navigator IV, but on a device without bluetooth, removing the audio output as they have on the Navigator Adventure means you have no way to listen to the audio, without exposing the socket on the device.

In August, i head out on my RTW trip, and want the connections to be as discrete as possible.

The only audio you can listed to anyway is directions - the Montana doesn't do music - so I don't use mine at all.

I prefer the satnav having it's mouth shut

I am surprised how many people like navigation talking. I like quite a lot the roadbook style navigation. I have a quick blink on the screen and know exactly where to go. Audio instructions get longer time to obtain and often don't describe the situation as well as quick look at the map.

So you got it sorted with the rugged mount?

That is an interesting info. So does that mean that Navigator has the function, but has been only disabled on the mount?

Yes. The BMW mount does not have the audio connections - which the Garmin rugged mount has. Luckily the BMW Navigator Adventure unit itself has not had the audio internally disabled.

IMO, this is a cockup by BMW, disabling all options to listen to the audio. A response of "BMW does not make an intercom, so have disabled it" is not satisfactory.

So BMW really do remove the audio cable:blast

That's the beauty of people having different needs.

I've been very pleased since getting the Garmin rugged mount and being able to listen to the voice prompts. I've not missed a turn since! :thumby:
