I've just won one, complete with everything except the motorcycle power lead, which I'm going to need as the connector to the GPS isn't one I can buy at Maplins. EBay lists only one at a silly price so can anyone suggest a supplier please? Secondly, any suggestions from experience for fitting it as cheaply as possible to a 2006 R1200GS? Thirdly, any pointers to using openstreetmap maps with the unit as Garmin stopped supporting it just before Noah steered the Ark with his.

I'm nor sure if the BMW Navigator uses the same cable as the 2610 which it's based on. If so there's this new one on eBay which seems perfectly reasonable price-wise. Only one left and they are pretty rare these days. Tempted to snap it up as a spare for my 2720...

ALternatively these guys seem to have them but at quite a chunk more £££

Regrading OpenStreetMap, follow the instructions and once you have the email saying that your mapping download is ready just download the installer (for your OS, Mac or PC) and the GMAPSUPP file. The former you install onto your computer along with Basecamp (Basecamp is the 'shell' program that displays the installed mapping data and allows you you plot routes etc.). The latter is put onto the Flash Card in your GPS.

Not sure what the maximum size card the NavII will take, ISTR that it's only 2GB. This will limit the amount of mapping you can have on there at any one time. If your navigational aspirations stretch beyond the UK then you might be better off installing the mapping to your computer only (you can then have more than the 2GB limit above) and then using MapInstall to write the mapping data you require for your current needs onto the Flash Card.

The Navigator II uses a special cable to connect the audio jack and buttons on the cradle. I'm not too fussed about either so Rainbow's lead is now on its way to me.
Many thanks.:beerjug::beerjug::beerjug:

Oh yes, it'll be far quicker, when it comes to installing data onto the CF card, if it's in a card reader plugged into a USB port of your computer.
