Just bought one of these and was thinking of putting a fuse and relay to power the unit on my 1200gs, after having a good look around the front of the bike found a plug that I can plug straight into and it not only powers the unit but also when u turn the engine off take the key out it still stays live for 15 minutes so u can fuel up and not lose any data from your unit, how's that
Good BMW cease to amaze me sometime

Sorry about my spelling as I have not been as well educated as GuzGS(top gun):comfort

Make sure your cable is "cable tied" and reduce the amount of movement the cable makes near the socket (not the sat nav end), as after a couple of years that cable can fail.
This gives the impression that the sat nav has the problem, which can take ages to investigate !!
Having properly secured my 2nd cable ( bmw did the first one) it has been good for about 6 years now :-)

I was just looking at that Ian, at first glance the brake line looks the choice but then the brake line moves when u steer so just under that the harness for the front light runs just under that and that's fixed so that's my choice,

That was a good point as it made me think about it
