BMW Navigator IV & Europe maps?

My Nav IV appears to be running City Navigator Europe NT 2012.10 map. To enter a European destination address, does the unit have to be in that country first, in order to detect the relevant satellite?

No, just select the correct country when putting in the destination

Thanks cbrgaz, it can't pick up a signal whilst I'm at home so Ill have to remember to take it out with me and try it (haven't used it in ages).
