Any one done the wales off road training or know anything about it?

I'm thinking of learning some new tricks

Yep done three, all good fun. Best tip book into the hotel they recommend night before the course starts, always someone else there looking kinda worried so you know they must be doing the same & book the night you finnish that way you get to ride home & enjoy the ride not blasting home and missing some of the Welsh roads. Bit expensive though.

Hope this helps

Oh forgot to mention - if you have never been off road you wont believe what they get you doing in just a couple of days, makes the beer taste even better.

There are some great vids on youtube, they'll get you looking down the back of the sofa for every last penny to get on a course.

If you can afford it, do it. I've had off road training with the Police, and have raced enduro and supermoto, diverse rider training styles all add up to your global skill set in a massive way.

I'd love to have a holiday in the US with these guys:

Go do it and fall off and laugh and learn.

Great way to spend a few days, great fun, great skills to be learnt.

Top tips, make sure you have some dry clothing to go home in,we did some fording just before the end and got piss wet through. Mind you I was dry by the time I got in the Helo to go to Swansea hospital with a Quad fracture. Oh yes, that's my Top Top tip...... Make sure you take out some Personal Injury insurance !!! That's not included in the price and you sign the waiver before you get on a bike. Small price for when the unexpected occurs.

Apart from the last 10 minutes and the broken leg, it was some of the best fun I have had on a bike, Simon and all the trainers know their stuff and have great anecdotal tales to tell.

:)

Did level 1 earlier this year and am back for level 2 at the end of this month. Great instructors, awesome bikes and a huge playground. You will be amazed how much you learn. Worth staying at the Abercrave Inn if you can get in there as that's where they have the course piss up.

Did Level one in May, best fun you will have with your kit on!

And as mentioned, you will be amazed at how much hyou learn even in the first few hours, mainly down to not having to worry about dropping the bike so you push a long way beyonf your normal envelope.

Top instructors, we had Gary and JP, but also heard good things abour Gwynn fro the other group,

Highly recommended

I dare say that if you asked in somewhere other than the 1200WC Technical forum, you may get a much better response.

I'm sure there are 650/800/850/1100/1150 and 1200 owners who may have some experience.

I did hear that they keep the orthopedic ward quite busy in the local hospital, and that did put me off just a little bit! not a lot, you know just a tad! :tears

Abercrave Inn or the Ancient Briton , Plenty more places in and around Ystradgynlais/Ystalyfera.

It's because the BMW bikes are too heavy for novices:D

I thought it was excellent. A couple of mates had to jack it in after the first day because they were so knackered. I was glad that I took the car up. :rob

Looking forward to doing level 2 in April. :thumb2
