Hi folks, I need some advice here,

I'm booked in for the ORS Level 1 course in August.

Does anyone know if the Sidi Adventure Boot will pass their inspection as a suitable boot ?

I've enquired and they can't say for certain but suspect that someone has been OK'd for the course whilst wearing these.

I'm just hoping that someone here has worn them for their Level 1 and can let me know. I'd like to buy some boots that I'd at least wear more often but don't want to risk buying something unsuitable for the course.

Buy the boots you want and then if they don't like them at the ORS then just rent some there for a few quid.

Yeah, I'd thought of doing that but have been warned that, due to limited stock, they may not have my size available unless I reserve them in advance.

They will, don't worry.:thumb

I've had my SIDI Adventures for over 3 years now........ did a 3-day offroad course with BMW in SA......... they performed 100% with very good protection after 2 bad prangs........... and I still use them!

Highly recommended.......!!

I think it will pass their inspection.

BUT - its a cross over boot; cross over between road and off road.

Personally, I wouldn't wear it for off road riding, and would wear a dedicated off road boot riding.

All it takes is a heavy dab combined with a lack of ankle support, and SNAP ! Out of action for ~6wks+

In your case my advice would be to pay the ~£20 or so and rent proper boots would be my advice. Whats the cost of renting the boots as a % of the total cost of the 2 day course, hotel, beers and round trip travel?

Your choice.

Thank's everyone, a lot of great advice.

At the moment I think I'm going to buy the Adventure boot anyway and organise a pair of off road hire boots from BM.

Cheers, :ChrisKelly

Good choice re hiring the proper boots.

Out of interest, what sort of riding will you use the Sidi Adventure boot for?

+1

I bought Sidi Crossfires for the course you are booked on and then wore them for seven weeks through Spain, Portugal and Morocco. They get a bit hot but there is no need to drill holes in them (a Long Way Down reference).

I'll end up wearing the Sidi Adventure boots for general commuting, our tour down to the south of France in September and a bit of pratting about on my brother-in-laws land.

I've got an old pair of TCX Infinity GTX boots at the moment, very comfortable, fine for a bit of walking around in and still waterproof but, I doubt they'll be good for another winter.

Nice one.

You know what, I actually quite like the look of those Sidi Adventure boots for general riding.

I use a pair of BMW Santiagos on a daily basis, and the Sidi Adventure looks a lot more robust (in the event of a spill), and also, look dead comfy.

Will try some on in the not too distant future.

So thanks for posting about them today !

Inspection...?

I wore steel toecapped foundry boots when I did the Off Road Skills level 1.

Mind you, that was back in 2000 with Pavey & Deacon, the H&S squad might have taken over since then :rob

I'll never forget colliding with another bike in '80, their exhaust slammed my left foot up and through the gear lever, my baseball boots didn't stop my big toe being severed, but at least it was still in my sock!

are you an off road god:D

I guess if you dont have any offs then they will be fine however if you intend to tackle off road at the arena then real boots are highly recommended the sidis may be fine but for the sake of a few quid the ridgid protection in the ankle and shin areas should be worth the spend. also why kill the sidis will be buggered after a weekend there:blast

Thanks, good point

I'd like to add that, as a result of my experience on said course (agonising instep through no support and seeing another rider leave by ambulance with a broken leg) I bought a pair of Alpinestar Tech 8s off a certain Mr Mawson  before attempting (and finishing, Yay!) the Cambrian on my Serow :bounce1

Ill be attending at end of March and planning on wearing my W2 4 Dirt Adventure boots... I'll let you know how they get on or whether or not they pass inspection...

Thanks, that'd be handy. In fact any news on the course etc. would be much appreciated.
