Hi,

I'm looking to do this course early in the new year(ish) maybe April?
I'll be heading out from Farnham, Surrey.
I f I can book soon ( and I will) I will stay at The Abercrave Inn.

Anyone else going?

Regards

im looking to go in may... poss 29/30th from cambridge

Cant wait, although little nervous... Booking it on monday!

I dunno. For the same money it appears possible to go to Spain for something similar. :cool

For me the BMW school was a bit too 'start stop' and the 'try another bike' part was just a waste of time :nenau.

OK - you could save a packet by just staying the one night in the Abercrave, but it's a hell of a long two days from Hamps/Surrey.

Going back for the level 1 advanced on one of the earlier dates next year, looking to book sometime later this week.

I know I could do similar in sunnier climes but there's something about falling off a bike multiple times in cold, wet South Wales that appeals to the masochist in me:eek

did the course back in June last year and, being Wales, it rained on the Friday (I say 'rain' but it p'ssed down solid all day). However, that just added to the fun (and made the ground softer when you fell off). Saturday was clear and bright and the ruts were full of water. AWESOME. I still smile when I think about it.

End of April is what I have in mind. PM me if you want and maybe we could meet at the Abercrave?

My OH and I are booked April 26th & 27th for Level 1 Basic - as neither of us have ridden off-road before - in preparation for our Alaska trip in June/July. We are also booked on the new Adventure Maintenance course on 28th. Don't fancy the idea of having to repair a puncture on a gravel road in the middle of nowhere, but if the worst happens ....

Was a bit confused by the criteria posted on the website for the two Level 1 courses, i.e. Basic: for novice or nervous road riders, without any off-road experience, and Advanced: for motorcyclists who have ridden off road before or ride regularly on the road by covering a considerable annual mileage ... With 18 years' riding, tens of thousands of road miles experience and a bit of advanced rider training behind me, I still played safe and opted for the Basic course. I don't really mind. John and I aren't true off-roaders, we just wanted to be well prepared for Alaskan gravel and construction.

Is anyone booked the same weekend as us?

i am booked on the level1 advanced on 22 & 23rd may... saying at abercrave!

anyone else booked for that weekend??

I have done first level advanced last august and looking forward to doing the level two course later this year, just not sure when yet. Have to say,I had the best fun,was knackered to death, mean could hardly move for three following days and this is my bike by the end of the course.
And yes, would go tommorow straigh away again. You surely make some friends there.
Advice for girls:Never go on "ladies only" course. When you´ve lift your 1200 GS for couple of times, you happily accept any help of present gentlemen. If girls only, who´s going to help you?

Also interested (Level One - Advanced ) but would need to see if there is any b & b's available first.

Booked on the 5/6 March Level 1. Staying at The Ancient Briton, which is apparently a 1 mile stagger from the Abercrave. Look forward to meeting the couple of other folk who have said they're booked onto that course.
