BMW Panniers ultamite water test

If you want to test your own panniers and don't have access to a pool-

Fill them with water, and see if it runs out - wil also show you were the water is leaking from.

( Obviously please remove any articles of clothing before trying this. From the panneir, not you good self, or you'll look a right tit standing there naked holding a leaking pannier)

I have to point out two errors here Blackal.....

1) Piss is lighter than water, so filled with Bud, they'd still float.
2) Bud in no way qualifies to be described as 'beer'

Otherwise, I like your thinking

1) Yes, they would still float, but then again the pannier floated with the steel weight, which is approximately 7 times the density of water. If you replace air in the pannier with cans of beer - the pannier is not as buoyant.

2) Okay, I admit that could go either way. I was trying to give a "North American" flavour to the post, but didn't think people would know what "Moosehead" was

I still think it is possible that the localised pressure of the steel weight, could have deformed one of the sealing surfaces
