BMW Park Lane - lesson learnt

Looking at the Park Lane website it appears that they do not have a service centre (but at Battersea).

Maybe I am missing something but do they actually have any tools at Park Lane and more importantly

do they have any trained technicians placed there to do the job.

I know it is potentially a simple job (if you have the correct tools) but in todays compensation culture if the bike was damaged in some way (because of an untrained person ) I am sure all hell would have been posted on here.

So maybe sending the client to Battersea was the correct way forward.

Frustrating I know

That's where I went as I live very close by, the shop in Park Lane is only showroom and sales.

Ahh ok was not sure from the post as it mentioned Park Lane - did not realize you were refering to the workshop.

Most complaints about BMW dealers are a result of an unrealistic customer's expectations of a dealer:augie

But aren't these expectations fueled by the glitzy sparkling nature of dealer showrooms these days.

Balderstons new showroom being a great example of this. Anyone walking into their new state of art building is natuarally going to expect big things from them. Its then very easy to be dissapointed.

The two R's that I bought from a dealer were a dissapointment, and their back up and service was poor considering in both cases it started with getting known faults repaired after collection when they'd been pointed out before purchase.

My current R is a private purchase, was a fraction of the price of the dealer bikes, and I maintain it myself. My expectations are way lower because no one over fueled them, and so far for an overweight underpowered lump of metal it exceeds all my expectations and has become a great bike.

Does only Park Lane charge you when testriding a new bike? I have bought my current gsa tc from them and use them for service. Although hourly rate of 180 might mean this was the last time today. Have to say bike rides fine and they did good job on the service.
