BMW put a stop on all GS and GS Adventure sales

Yep - it's been on my mind since reading about the fork stanchion issue. I can't remember whether there was any enquiry/result of the accident...

But as I said elsewhere, early 2013 bikes are not subject to this recall as the forks, as stated by BMW were different and of course that means that Kevin Ash would not have been riding a bike with the current forks, would he ?

My point is this.

A brand new bike will have brand new forks presumably delivered from Marzocchi. These forks will have been passed by quality control so would assume to be all good.So why bother examining these ? Is there a problem with that particular supplier of these forks ?

I was wondering that. I guess that suggests two scenarios;

There's an issue with QC and some out of tolerance forks may have got through

Or

They are playing better safe than sorry.

.......so all is well, chalk it up to "the internet strikes again" :)

How ridiculous can you get?

It's very serious from any angle; (i) the chance of more riders getting hurt (ii) the cost to BMW of fixes/recalls/litigation (iii) the damage to future sales and also deleterious effects on resale values.

Can we trust BMW if its proven they took 4 years to listen?

So I hardly think the "internet" is at fault as you suggest above!

It's good that safety issues get shared worldwide, thanks to Facebook/sites like this/owners clubs.

Would you prefer the manufacturer could escape blameless after selling £16K bikes that have faults?

You baffle me, and no doubt others!

Are they playing it safe, or are they treating us like crash test dummies....

You the owners find the problems? And if there are enough complaints we'll do something about it?

:blast

Nope. No bafflement here, I understood exactly what he meant Stuart Watson.

Twatt.

Two types of owners here ....

(i) those that expect their bikes to be as safe as those from Triumph KTM Honda and other responsible vendors and
(ii) a vocal bunch of dumb C U N T S ( engineer , ottomunch mrtee etc ?)

One of the three above said; "maybe people are on the attack because its BMW" ?

FFS , No its because we love life (including riding motorcycles !).

Stu,

You really need to get the professional's to assess your anger meds - maybe Stevie will hold your hand?

OMG! The very mention of Marzocchi forks fills me with dread. I didn't think for a moment that BMW would use them as a fork/parts supplier. My experience from another brand using them is that you should stay well clear of them... their QC is bad. I haven't been back to that brand since. However.....this fiasco has all the hallmarks of Marzocchi written all over it!!! Guess they were the cheapest!!!

No anger here ! I'm just astonished how stupid some bikers can be every time i peek at this site.

Toodle pip !

Why the abuse then - in my experience people who resort to abuse usually have other issues?

God forbid you'd have an airline pilot with undiagnosed social interaction disorders....

A fair point and I (we) really don't know?

The history of the automotive industry is littered with cases where there have been cover ups by manufafacturers......

I'm in no way defending WBM or belittling the issue, I was just making the point in my reply to the other post that testing brand new bikes would suggest BWM knowing that Marzochi have QC issues or they are being ultra cautious.

Haha

95% of the worlds leaders in Business and Politics have Social Interaction or Serious Mental Disorders.

Then there are the 5% left who wished they were just like them.

But very few of them pilot BA planes......

Did you miss the smiley at the end, I was being sarcastic. Think about my poor wife, I baffle the fuck out of her.
