R1100 Gearboxes are they all the same?
Question for the more technical-minded.
I have the offer of an BMW R1100S gearbox to replace the one on my R1100GS that I'm trying to sell so I can buy an R1200GS. Now, my intention was just to sell the bike on "FleaBay", be honest and 'fess up to the problem (which I have) and expect that the stupidly cheap reserve that I set (under 2K) would be enough to ensure that it sold. It seems thats not working as there is only one bid after nearly a week (i think the gearbox is scaring the bidders off) so i've formulated a plan B, which is to grab this R1100S gearbox, swap it into my R1100GS and relist on you-know-where. Now, i've looked at my trusty Haynes manual, and all the ratios appear to be the same, and all the references to different models appear to state "All Variants from 1994 onwards". i take this to mean that all the gearboxes were the same.
Is that the case?
I hope so because the dealer wont hold my new bike for a great deal longer....
Oh, my bike is a '95 GS and the donerbike is alledgedly an '02 plate with 18000 miles on it.
