BMW R1150GS abs warning light

Hello
new on here today so sorry if this has been asked a thousand times, ive just bought a BMW R1150GS and the abs light is stuck on constant whys it doing this? all help much apreciated.

also id like some of the alloy luggage for it aswell, where is the best place for me to buy this?.

apreciate any help all new to me this bike

There are two things ...

... that spring to mind, after welcome and 'nice bike' Firtstly, the 1150 is despite its agricultural roots, is surprisingly sensitive to starting procedures. Turn it on so you get all the warning lights, then leave it for a few seconds before trying to start it. Secondly, if the above doesn't cure it, yer battery is probably fecked

+ 1 battery probably a bit knackered. Happened to mine lots till got a new one.
If it is NOT servo assisted - then brakes are fine to use as normal - just no ABS.
switch off, then back on - wait for both red lights to flash twice and start. Also if you don't hear the auto test click at the front wheel it hasn't set properly. Sometimes you may need to re-set the ABS as it can log faults (I think) - quite easy and plenty of info on this forum with a search. New Battery most likely - if not there can be other issues - check forum. good luck.

It's not ...

... a big deal, but the light does mean your ABS is disabled, although it's an easy fix

As to alloy luggage, there are numerous types available, I personally prefer Jesse's, Verns are top-of-the-range custom built, OEM are ok unless you fall off, Touratech are expensive when put alongside Alpos, the world really is your bottom feeder

Is it a servo'd bike ie twin spark and 2003 onwards?

If you don't know, post a piccy of your rocker cover

Sounds like a non servo one

The test for the battery is to start the engine up, run it for a mile or two, switch the engine / ignition off. And restart the bike and ride off and see if the ABS is ok. If it is then the battery is probably on its way out.

As has been said, it'll be worthwhile reading up on the ABS reset procedure
