I've just bought one of these but there are no instructions. Does anyone know where the strap modification goes ? :nenau

Assuming that it's the BWM kit,the strap attaches, via spacers/hex bolts from the retrofit kit to the captive nuts under the pilliom seat at the end of the tool tray.
I left mine in the box-the topbox has a good secure fixing already.

Thanks Colban I'm getting warmer. What does it actually wrap around ?
I must add that Im keen to fit the strap as I'm sure I read somewhere that it was to cure a problem with the rack failing.

Think I know what is for....

It is to replace the pillion grabrail- Now you have a topbox mount this gets rid of the grabrail. The strap fixes onto the nuts on at the end of the silver tool box unit thingy under the pillion seat and comes up between the riders seat and the pillion seat for them to grab onto instead of leaning on the topbox.

Have a look at a jap pocket rocket- the pillion seat almost always has a strap on it as they usually dont have a grab rail.

Like i said,i didn't bother fitting mine as the box holder/base plate is well secured on the bikes rack.
I do notice it does seem to have a lot of movement (up and down) going along. Is this what is meant when you mention the rack failing.
Stress failures in the alloy rack?.
I have the original instructions, but they dont show where the strap loops through, just its attachment points.

Thanks once again Colban.:thumb

I do think that it has to be to prevent that slight movement up and down. I've previously had a sports rack on a TRX850 which broke the mounting lugs on the subframe so I'm keen to avoid something similar happening again. I'll jus have to make sure I don't put too much in it.:(
